Who thinks it stupid that you share gold with the henchmen?

ok i got a question as the title says who thinks its stupid i do cuz why the hell does the computer need gold and if for some reason they do need the gold what the hell is the computer going to do with it anybody else think's this is stupid and should be changed?

Thats the price for using henchies I'm afraid. Exactly the same if you were in a team of 'real' players anyway.

Clearly the henchman run around when we aren't looking and *give* the gold to the creatures so we can kill them and loot them later.

i mean, how else did that spider get 80 gold *shakes head*.

But seriously, why should it be changed?, if they were people, they would get a share. Since this is a game that trys to encourage group play, having the henchies not share gold would be counter-productive. ... It would promote soloing.

but its useless them getting the gold it dosen't go anywhere ya i can see them getting the invisable drops and stuff but why the gold its just stupid that a computer char gets something it dosen't use its like a mechanic buying a nail gun to fix his car when he should of bought a wrench

You're right. They should divide the amount of gold by the party size, then let you have ALL of it. Then it would be better.

Think the henchies getting gold is OK as well. If you want to keep all the gold for yourself, then go solo.

Most of the money people usually get from missions/quests comes from selling weapons and other drops anyways, I think.

You do realize that they also get thier share of drops also? Once you come to that conclusion I think your head may explode

Really, even though I play henchies almost exclusivly I see no reason for the gold/loot system to be any different than if I had a party of players the same size. The only thing I wish is that the drops would stay and after the battle the henchies would go pick them up - I would love to hear the screams as many a black dye, gold armors, and greens are picked up

The only real issue I have with the item wise is that they do not seem to spend that gold on decent armor or weapons and instead hoard it using only the minimum for the area. At least have them use what is available halfway through the missions - about when total newbies who never upgrade finally get around to doing so (even though an average player will be able to well before that and usually does). Heck, by the Southern Shiverpeaks Stephan ought to have enough for a sup absorption *AND* vigor! I've wasted my money on five or six cars by now - where does his money go? Especially since every uses him from time to time - he's surely found at least a few hundred sup absorptions, at least use one for himself instead of selling them!

All joking aside, I do wish they would purchase better armor than they do, either that or I would like to know I'm mistaken and they have average armor for thier level (each class seems to take MUCH more damage per hit than I do until very late in the game). I also wish we could edit thier AI to our liking and play style. But then there are all sort of saying about "If wishes were ...". If both of those were done I don't think I would have any real issue with them - after all any AI problems were my fault and who can complain if they have decent equipment? But then - who am I to complain? I find them better than most PUGS anyway (not that I'm anything great either - they just do what I tell them and don't complain when I aggro too many mobs or get them killed ).

Don't think of the henchies as machines; think of them as easily-confused player characters with no understanding of the English language.

It is an RPG, after all. :P

By extenaion, one might aswell say "why do merchants charge me gold for items? What does a computer contolled salasperson need gpld for?". Simple answer: its computer generated cash for computer generated people :P.

I don't have a problem with henchies sharing in the loot - the basis of the game is co-operative play, plus there are many opportunities to go solo farming. However, when in co-op play, you at least have the chance to trade with the other members in you group for items you or they may need that were dropped. You don't have that chance when using henchies.

I'm not sure what can be done about that other than writing code that would allow you to somehow trade with the henchies, but I feel like I'm being punished for those times I want to play the game without having to deal with other players.

lol, if you could bring henchies with you and get all the gold, it would go faster then a solo monk doing the hydras. THAT is why the henchies get equivelant gold and drops.

I think the henchies should drop all the gold and loot they've collected when they get killed, just like the monsters do! Woohoo, payday!

Henchmans should not take ANY gold or items because I can't get enough stuff and I want to be rich just like those who experiment every place and bother to think how to solo something. It is not fair because I don't have time or will to do that stuff and my head hurts but I still want to get all drops. Even my mom said it would be fair. She said I'm the most wonderful person in the world and should not treated like this. She is right and I feel more angry. Change it now!

They are Henchmen, not volunteers, they need payment. If you dont think henchies shouldnt get a cut then you could also argue that NPC's should give their wares away for free. Free runes and ectos for all.

uh oh... the truth is out that henchies gets a share of the gold.. should i tell him they also get DROPS to.. so that sup vigor that could have been yours went to the fighter henchie... that sup absorb...healer henchie...and that gosh darnit crystalline sword... yes yes.. the mage henchie.

Henchmen take item drops too dont they? Like items drop for them also just like real players

I don't mind that they take gold and drops (although it would be nice to see the drops before they take it.) That helps you to know if something just isn't dropping well in the area or if it is being taken by the henchies.

What I do wish they would do is PICK UP the gold since it gets shared anyway! The only time I need to use my mouse when out fighting is to pick up gold or items. Luckily I had a friend join up recently and I went through the game with him and pretty much got him trained to pick up all the gold so I don't have to It is like my own little human hench!

I'd like them to level too. If monsters in pre-sear can for a cheezy and pointless route to level 20, why can't henchies? Proving once again the mob AI is actually >> henchy AI.

Really tho? Wouldn't you just cry yourself to sleep knowing that yourself and 7 henchies got increda-drops, but actually you yourself got bupkiss?

Would be nice to know what is out there I suppose, but if this guys just wants the coin from the henchmen, guess what's going to be a much much more popular thread after such a change?

edit - and as they still can't handle running out of AoE, I can't wait to see the Henchy barter system implemented lol

Yeah, exactly the same way I cry now when I go with a full party of real people and see them get all the amazing drops and I get nothing of consequence. Computer or human, doesn't matter to me, I still like to see what all drops froma creature.

henchies do level up.

i was out on a long run and saw 2 of them level but when i got where i was going they reset.

They're henchmen you HIRE them. The gold split during your run with them is their payment for accompanying you and them dying left and right because you just wanted them as fodder. >_<

Another reason they dont have henchies items actually drop and then go pick them up is because if you saw an uber item drop for alesia and shes dead, would you res her and let her grab it or wait 5 minutes till you can pick up the item?

That would be nice if you could trade with henchmen
But I see some exploits there so don't say that idea anywhere.

Or you can kill off the henchies one by one and raid their bodies...
