aight im too lazy to test it but which attribute increases your hit dmg without using a skill is it an mastery axe sword etc....or is it strength???or is it both can someone explain this...

strength increases your armor penetration, that will certainly increase your effectiveness, besides that im not sure.

Sword, Axe and Hammer attribs all passively increase your damage with those weapons whether you are using a skill or not. Strenth also passively increases damage as Nlandge explained above.
