Guild Leader Overthrow
MMSDome
I think a niffty idea is to be able to overthrow your guild leader and the guild and overthrow other guilds. I am an officer in my guild and personally cant stand my leader, i think itd be pretty cool to be able to stab them in the back and take their guild with some sort of competition or somthing. Or assassinate them or somthing! Just an idea, any others agree?

Just leave the guild as u please.
u can overthrow a leader easily. if they put this.
you can get your friends in the guild and bam >_>

Vilaptca
Sorry, this has been brought up before, and its just silly. Typically a guild leader will be the one who has paid for the hall, capes and everything. You're going to steal all that from him because you don't like him? I don't think so. If you have a problem with the leader, quit the guild. This isn't Anarchy Wars, its Guild Wars.
MMSDome
but ti would make the game so much more fun if you can round up a group of people within the guild that agree with you and dont like the leader.
Vilaptca
So...a bunch of people keep joining guilds kicking out the guild leader, ruining the guild, then leaving and doing it to another one...
The fun in that is?
The fun in that is?
fiery
lets grab the pitchforks and never ending overthrowing of the guild leader.. ok 5 of us gang up and vote against him... pitch fork him.. than we do the same over and over.. why make a battle with the guild.

the leader wasted his ass
getting the guld hall and etc..
and u just gonna take it?
ni99a pls
PieXags
PieXags votes absolutely not. A guild leader took the time out of his day to start the guild, purchase the name, purchase the cape (in most situations), start it up, etc. In no way should you be able to throw someone out of a guild or overthrow them once they've put their time and money into it. That might as well be stealing.

well...im a fair leader. if any of my officers feels like being leader, id just ask the rest of the guild what they think...
i think something so simple is much better.

Everyone wants to be the leader. So...basically every noob you invite will want to overthrow the leader >.>

I've been in a guild where he charged money for a vent server. I don't remember how, but we all found out that he was corrupt and taking money, so we all left and started another guild. So it's just better starting another guild anyways.
If this were to be implemented, however, then why not just have the officers have the ability to vote off the guild leader?

I am the leader of my guild, it is big. If I got overthrown I would find a way to take all my guild members down with me. You have no idea how much time and money I have spent on my guild. For christmas I spent over 100k on presents for guildies, I am always power leveling them, running them places, giving them money, etc.
Kook~NBK~
Gotta vote "NO" to this one! You don't like your guild leader? Find a new guild! You wanna be a guild leader? Instead of robbing someone of all their hard work, get your lazy self to work and start your own.
I'm in a guild that's a multi-gaming group and has been around for 5 or 6 years and we've had the same leader through-out. He founded our guild (squad/clan/whatever depending on the game) and has been the driving force behind keeping it going - wouldn't trade him as leader for anyone.
Giving this kind of power to new recruits is just begging for trouble, especially for newer / smaller guilds. Example - we invited someone to join our guild after a week or so of playing with this person - seemed petty cool. Within days this person was telling us how the guild should be run! Needless to say, that one didn't stick around long. Could have been a different story if we weren't already a tight-knit group.

Firstly I do vote "no" to this idea.
However I do also debate the fact that the guild leader is always the one who pays for cape and hall, but that is another matter entirely.

Only if it involves a mini-game with pitchforks, torches and a mysterious castle up in the Carpathians.. oh and a rampaging mob, gotta have a rampaging mob.

I'm grabbing my Furious Pitchfork of Guildleaderslayer allready!
Xenrath
I was a co founder and the former leader of [Fc], passing the crown on to another member only because of work/time concerns etc. but have to say that definately no to this idea - only time the leader should stand down is of his/her own choosing. Probably 99% out there are decent, work hard and put a lot time/effort into the guild. There should be no facility to remove them by the rest of the group. Only possible exception I can think of would be if the person disappears for months and nobody can contact him/her... which causes a problem to sort out Officer issues. Even then, everyone who wants to can form a new group.
If you don't like your group leader that much, leave and find some other group more suitable to you, or better yet take the (huge) time and effort to start your own, pay for hall/cape etc and recruit/help others and so forth. You will have a very different opinion of what it means to be leading
It's also incredibly lame to suggest rounding up a group of people to ruin somebody's hard work like that....

Agree with everything above. Plus, in the end, the Guild Leader ends up playing more of an admin role than an active player. Keeping things organized, setting up events, making sure the guild has Vent/TS, etc. are more of the Guild Leader's responsibilities rather than being the role model player. Just my two cents..
Really...if you can't stand your guild leader then just leave and form a guild of your own. Or, do what most people do and ignore the GL. lol Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying it as much as what you'd like to.

you know this option already exists, right?
it's called the "leave the damn guild and start your own" button. if you get enough people to support, they will migrate with you.

Yeah then you can brag how you usurped this guild, that'll surely attract new players to join?

dimirpaw
I would say no as well. If you hate this Guild Leader no one is forcing you to stay, just leave and be done with it. No need to "overthrow" your leader.
Don't expect ANet/NcSoft to add that feature in either, just think if you where the leader, had like 200+ people, the hall, capes and the money and time spent. Wouldn't it be fun to one day log on and find out your nothing more then a guest in your own Guild? This can go both ways, you may not like your Guild Leader, but if you where in a Guild not one person might like you. It's no reason to overthrow them.

I lead my Guild on one account,am an officer on a 2nd account and intend to start a new guild when the next chapter starts.Being the Guild leader is a big responsibility on an ingame and on a real world basis. Being a leader is not an overnight kind of thing. And you should just leave your current guild if you don't agree with you leader's way of running things.Overthrowing a Leader is the stuff of gov't, not of Guild Wars. Assassinating a Guild Leader isn't the answer to your problems(it just shows that you weren't capable of being anything more than violent and contrary anyway. Who follows a leader with such a quality?)I won't start repeating the things that have already been said, but I believe you see a trend in the popular opinion by now.

So, the Guild Leader and/or their friend/s put up the money to A) Start the Guild, B) Buy capes, and then C) Buy a Hall, just so Johnny Impissed can get a bunch of his friends together and kick him out.
How about you leave and start your own flippin' Guild. No one's stopping you.
Pardon the flame, I'm VERY defensive of my Guild >:|

As a guild leader myself - I would want to see the mutiny ringleader hurt IRL!
A responsible guild leader and officer cadre can make the guild experience very dynamic.

In my guild, it's the guild leader who's been footing the bill for the website, vent server, forums, etc., in addition to doing all the scut work involved in maintaining them. So just be aware that if you do pull off the coup, when the web address, vent server and forums subscriptions expire, your newly acquired guild ain't gonna have 'em anymore.

Just Leave. Simple as that. All your problems solved with a single click.
If the leader persists in denying your friends the chance to play with you because you're now persona non grata, then they'll probably leave, too.

Your seriously stupid, the Guild Leader paid his own money for the Guild Hall, Cape, and such. Your either very jealous, stupid, greedy, or all of them.
STRONGLY dis-agree, NO.

...And not just because I'm a leader, either.
One person mentioned if the leader is absent for months on end... even that is solved by the auto-promotion of one of the officers after one month.

I'm not one to be judgemental, but you are the least mature person I have ever met. No doubt you are the kind of person who throws eggs at houses, knocks over other peoples' snowmen, and try to bully your classmates (I say classmates because you are obviously a 12-year old bad-ass-wannabe goign through puberty).
People like you are why some guilds have bad leadership, and I know none of us need to even bother posting our rejections to this idea because ANet has nothing in store for disrespectful troublemakers such you, Mr. Pink.
You hate your guild leader, you can leave the guild. You're obviously a W/Mo who farms and keeps ALL his gold and therefore you don't deserve the guild hall/capes whatever else your guild has, let alone though overthrowing a leader who no doubt doesn't support your childish antics (this being your cause for hatred to him).
Get a life, or at least don't try ruining other peoples' fun.
