I think the Magmas Shield are rare drops by Titans on the Ring of Fire Islands.

I got one to drop outside Ember Light Camp, don't remember what dropped it. It was max, but it was clean.....bummer.

All Titan's drop them. Them and Magmas Arm (a hammer).
They arent "rare"....at all.... Its just not everyone fights alot of Titans.

Sweet thanks, now I met only few titans and found them annoying, I wonder if my 55hp monk build would work against those buggers

I am not too familiar with a 55monk build but at first glimpse the constant burning could cause some problems for you

i've also gotten a gold magma's shield from a shiverpeak chest in mineral springs while doing defend droknar ... my guess is they also drop from darkstone chests.
