Ever heard of this before?

One of our guildies has a friend who just started playing a few days ago. Apparently he was outside Lion's Arch and came across something like a "Legend Seed" or something.

Our guildie said he said it dropped 200 platinum. (Since he had just started the game, he allegedly thought it was a "normal" drop.)

I would have said, "Well, he's new to the game, he probably got gold and platinum confused." But, our guildie was given 20k by this person immediately.

So of course a scouting group went outside and started hunting (no luck). I went to Droknar's Forge and started asking in local. All I got were whispers from people wanting more information (which I didn't have).

One of my other friends got an answer in Amnoon stating that these were seen long ago, but none have been seen since, and they actually dropped an item worth 200-300k, not the money itself.

So. My question, have any of you seen/heard of this seed? Does it just spawn randomly across the map, and if you leave the right town from the right district at the right time and head in the right direction, you may find it?

I've never seen or heard anything like this before and I have been playing since the game launch.
Item drops can be valuable and get u 200k when u sell them but not 200k in one shot unless its a game bug.

Maybe someone else has more info about this, but I do not think its real. Maybe your guildies' friend like to spread rumors.

If it actually was try then he would have taken a screenshot or at least drop 200k on the floor and fake as screenshot

Why would Anet make something you cant pick up? - Max is 100 platinum.

That completely slipped my mind, yeah how did he pick up 200k.

Well, and again, I am not sure whether it's a load of bunk, that's why I came to all of you... But if he was with a group and 200k dropped, he would be able to pick it up because it would have been "shared" with the group. (Also since I didn't speak to him myself, I do not know whether it was actually an item worth that much.)

I know, I've been playing for 9 months myself and never heard of it before.

If it is all a joke, I'm sad about it because this individual - as a RL friend of a guildie - is now in the guild too. I do not like deceptive people, especially in my guild.

If it's not a joke - HEY! I've been playing for 9 months and never have more then 30k in storage, and he gets that much in one drop after 3 days???

I am completely innocent of shenanigans. Although I am known for frequent hijinks.

If I really wanted to raise a ruckus, I would have claimed I was the one and shown doctored screenshots or something... like that terror shield.

Then again, if it were real? I would probably have kept it to myself.
