Why can't PvE players be famous?

Simple concept really, PvP players gain fame when they achieve something admirable, why can't the same count for PvE players? I for one am just as impressed by a party that completes the entire fow as with a team that wins the HoH once.

Perhaps an experience system could work, that when you have 100.000 EXP you gain 20 fame, still means that you need a lot of experience to gain a rank. Currently, ranks play an important role in selecting players for PvP - why can't the same count for PvE?

if you bothered reading it the statement was that there would be some (unspecified) *recognition* for pve players

I didnt see that in the sticky - where coudl I find that?

Suggestion is the same fame as the current PvP system, if that isnt anything new or already confirmed then disregard my topic.

this would only encourage farming to get exp for rank

never cause soloing in UW means 245 per kill..quests like 10 k experince..and seeing you can mesmer/monk/solo trap UW gunna be alot of ranks floating around.

This wouldn't work because you'd have rank 9 invinci monks getting on teams in the tombs...which we all know would just end in tears.Alternative emotes for experience however, mightn't be such a bad idea..as it is there's no way to stop people lying about their's.

As someone mentioned in another thread, rank is meant to be an indication of PvP skill, not time spent playing the PvE aspect of the game.

Maybe then an Honor or Respect "rating" for PvE players that is seperate from PvP Rank?
Have it earned via quests and not kills - no exp farming that way.

I was suggesting Exp instead of Quests as Quests are.. (I think) Impossible to track down.

To get rid of the PvP fame comment, indeed, make it a PvE sepperate rank.

Also, farming is a problem in general, not specific to this problem. And it's the same for PvP ranks, which currently encourage new players to IWAY farm, even though not intended, it's reality.

I think it would be a different rank, and look totally different, so no. You would not see any R9 solo monks pretending to be R9 PvP players. ANet isn't that dumb.

Fame is exclusive to the Tombs. You can use PVE characters at the Tombs.

I guess you can't use the word "fame" to describe it, or everyone will think PvP. What's another word for fame that the PvE players could use so the PvP players don't get so upset...

What the hell happened to my post? I posted in this thread earlier...

What the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO...

In any case, the Real Roy Keene said (in worse words than my own) the problem with such a set-up. The farmers would all be rank 'a billion'.

I support this idea, with a bit of modification. Don't make a fixed quest or goal determine PvE ratings. If it takes X experience to achieve PvE rank Y, then it just means that farmers have the highest rank. If you make a certain quest determine rank, then people will eventually "solve" it (the same way invinci-monks have "solved" UW).

If Anet did this, then I'd like to see an arena, much like the Zaishen Elite Arena. Have 30 or 40 different high level mobs and randomly populate each level of the arena with them. Your PvE rank could be determined by the highest level of the arena that you've beaten.

Obsidian armor for the win?

Unless they spread you name accross the bottom of the screen like they do when you win the hall of heros, you are not going to become recognized for your accomplishments. If all you want is a cool emote, then I am afraid you will have to play PvP. PvE players get cool armors, PvP players get cool emotes, seems like a fair trade to me. If you want some intangible sort of "fame", the kind were you zone into LA and thirty different people recognize you, no emote is going to do that.

Quests would not be impossible to track down, from a developer standpoint. Exp, though, would be a lame way to track.

Furthermore, ANet has devised some kind of recognition program for PvE for Factions. We'll just have to see what it is.
