Maybe I'll have more luck than my E/R vs E/N thread had :P
Was considering making a E/M which focused more on damage - so the monk side would be for smithing with maybe protection thrown is as well. Added bonus is healing, altho with no focus on it.. healing would be low-end.. and of course has huge damage spells with E stuff.. and lots of mana with energy storage.
biggest problem happens to be melee damage.. but thats where E armor spells come into play, there's also some interesting M stuff..
Balthazar's Aura - surrounded, only 1 second cast time.. but can deal some pain out. holy damage ignores armor right?
Zealot's fire - damage enemies if you cast a spell on yourself. Not sure how effective this is in a E/M build, but with 60 second cast time.. and say combines with Balthazar's Aura and firestorm, etc self-targeted..
Does self-targeted AoE spells like Firestorm trigger off Zealot's Fire?
Symbol of Wrath - ok, one to combine with Zealot's fire if it's "self-targetable".. double dosage of holy damage
Reversal of Fortune - self-targetable, triggers Zealot's and heals you if your attacked in the time frame..
shield of regeneration (elite) - upp's healing regen (and trigers zealot's if it's active).. so might be useful if dealing with things wacking on you - also if you have AoR on you get a healing boost just from casting it.. you also get +40 armor.. so for that 5-10 seconds your armor is as good as a warrior's.. which gives you 5-10 seconds of less damage and better chance of running or casting next damage spell..
protective spirit - if the nasties can do a lot of damage, this can help.. but not too useful, rather have a damage or armor spell instead..
Mark of protection (elite)- for 10 seconds you get healed when you get hit. nice!
Armor of Earth - 30 seconds gain nice amounts of armor (combined with shield of regen you could get as high as +93 armor! - assuming + armor's stack...)
So you could have like..
1. Aura of Restoration
2. Zealots fire
3. Symbol of Wrath
4. Armor of Earth
5. Reversal of fortune
6. Ether Renewal
7. Crystal Wave
8. Stoning? healing spell? rez spell?
heck, can swap out stuff and add if firestorm, etc as wanted/needed.
Like a fire style build might be say..
1 AoR
2 ER
3. Zealot's
4. Symbol of Wrath
5. Reversal of Fortune
6. firestorm
7. Flameburst
8. Pheonix? healing? rez? whatever
or can fo water.. it seems pretty flexable. can toss in more single-target skills if needed, or more AoE skills as well.. just seems to have more options in how to deal with critter's..
my biggest worries is the fact that elementalist's armor is nt really designed for melee.. and if the critters get close by.. how can I either protect myself, heal myself fast enuff or kill them fast enuff not to have to worry about them..
any thoughts? course I'll be limited in what I can do by what skills i can get and when I can get them.... but been thinking about a smiting/protection elementalist for a bit now... would like ppl's opinon's..
E/M for PvE?
Kamatsu
Kamatsu
anyone?
This is for a mainly solo player. Yes, I know solo'ing is a pain and not encouraged... but with some of the drop-kicks I see around pre-searing Ascalon.. and some of the horrow stories on here.. and ppl avoiding ppl with 56K modems like they have the plague.. I'm forced to solo
I really don't wanna play a W/Mo .. thats sooo boring :P
But I've read in another thread that E/Mo's have it especially tuff in PvE... or is it just tuff in PvP? I just thought a E/Mo would be better than a E/R because it seemed that the skills intermesshed better and I'd get more use from both professions... (and I got sick of having to use "comfort animal" on my pet on my E/R.. hahahahaha)
