Will there be ANYTHING for PVE in Factions WKEND

Just curious about this.

Seems like this preview for Factions is only for people doing PVP. Is there going to be any reason for a PVE player like myself to go along. I have done some PVP but got bored with it and do very little of it now. However can I just bring my PVP char and find pick up groups to do stuff with in the new area?

Thanks.

You should check out the place where Tombs used to be. And read other threads more thoroughly (or use the search button) in case your question was answered elsewhere.

The old Tombs outpost is now a staging area for a new PvE experience. And there are PvP training missions on The Battle Isles that do not actually involve PvP ... you can fight against AI teams that are styled after some common PvP team builds.

Just to clarify, don't both of these changes (new Underworld and Battle Isles) remain past this weekend? The only thing that will be changed on Monday is that Assassin and Ritualist skills will be disabled (to later be enabled again after you buy Factions).

Unfortunatly I think doing a PvP event like this wasn't the best way to get new players in to the game, the templates are so limited what with some templates having locked skills for new accounts meaning the choices are even fewer.

I tried to introduce 5 people to guildwars and only one of them likes what he has seen of the game.

A PvE area for new accounts would have been a nice addition or just allow people to play through pre-searing to get a real feel for the game.

Don't get me wrong i think it's great to get a peek at the new content and to try to get more people in to PvP.

Yes, I'm looking forward to that. I'm sorry to say that I was pretty bored by the preview. All you can really do besides the arena is run around this island and fight some masters, for no purpose that I can see. Right now I wouldn't buy it. Reviews after it comes out may change my mind, if it turns out there actually is some worthwhile PvE content in it. I think it's like this: if you like sports you will like PvP, but an awful lot of us are not sports fans. Oh, well. Chapter 3 may be heavily weighted towards the PvE players--we can hope.

Don't count chapter 2 out yet i'm sure the final PvE will be just as good if not better and bigger than chapter 1, I just though it was a shame that the first event wasn't a bit more gripping for new people.

I'm going to try to convince my mates to try it out if there is a PvE but their thoughts of it are pretty low at the moment it's a shame as i love guildwars and had hoped to get them in to it.

Please don't make any conclusion before you see anything from Factions, this is just a sneak preview of the two new professions. Do you actually think this is all the content of Factions? That would be silly. Battle Isle is not Cantha, which is the PvE continent of Factions and should be as big as Tyria. And as Alex pointed out, the PvE players have a new dungeon to explore, the old Tombs of Primeval Kings, where you can find new green weapons!

The PvE events will come closer to release. I imagine they will have events like the old World Preview Events where we can explore Cantha.

note that GAILE stated that it was even nicer than presear Ascalon and at some times she was very surprised and happy with what she saw and she seems to be more of a PVE player than pvp.

i (PVE only) have great hopes for chapter 2

Tombs is where it's always been - accessed from Dragon's Lair in the desert.

Still called Tombs of Primeval Kings, although it no longer is marked with a red map pin, now it's indicated in the same fashion as any other town or outpost.

Note: must be ascended, cannot be accessed via other means (ie: running)

And unto that, it is NO LONGER a mission! it has a portal. And from my EXP, you CAN go in w/o a full team of 8.

Also, as there are so fracking many dif ench breakers, it is NOT 55 build friendly.

It is highly reccomended to bring rebirth in here.

I have been at this for several months, and I wasn't impressed by the PvP skill sets, but I did like the assasin using my ranger skills. so I may do PvP with my ranger. Of course I olny had time for the training ones.

I agree a free pre searing weekend would also be a better idea.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one bored w/ the preview. Aside from farming faction points to unlock the new skills, I can't see myself spending the entire weekend playing GW as I originally planned to.

including the new areas like Btemple/heros ascent /arenas /etc

Me and my brother share this feeling. I guess you have to be pretty into PvP to really get into this preview. It was fun seeing everything, but the whole PvP with everyone playing either assassin or ritualist get pretty silly after the second try. A lot of people were leaving groups before the match started if there were more than one assassins or ritualists on their team.

At least it worked us all up for the PvE event. We took many screenshots and had lots of fun just making the characters and looking at their skills for combos.

Enjoyed it, but it became a one day event, instead of the three that I planned on.
