This is a team game. 1 vs 1 was talked about a lot in Beta but there would be sooooo many fights that you would have to leave as they would never end.
Maybe you could put a 3 min timer on the fight but more often than not they would be a draw and you would both be kicked out.
The whole point of making classes balanced is so that 1 vs 1 is not viable. It's supposed to be about team tactics!

Without tangable rewards, I can't see why they wouldn't let people figure this out themselves. Disable experience for duels and let the idiots whack on each other. The only down side I can see is that people would use them to make claims as to which class/build was better... not a very good arguement, but it would be made over and over.
