I noticed the rubys and sapphires jumped to 9k from about 5k a week ago because of the anticipation of new armor in factions. Also Ecto prices are starting to fall. They are about 8k now. For those of you that invested in ecto that must suck. I wonder if it is smart to buy rubys and sapphires now or if they allready reached thier high point and will fall back down. Did anyone buy a high number of them when they were cheaper, just from buying 10 of them you could have made 40k easily?

I bought over 50 sapphires and over 50 rubys when the price was 5k - 6k...

I baled on my ecto stash a while ago.

saffs and rubies are crafting materials to craft... you guess it.. the building blocks of a new guild hall.. heh.. what happens if that was true

i used to spam toa for them and buy them at 2.5k each when no one wanted them. then i hoarded them from the traders for 3-4k a piece. they were so glittery how could anyone resist?

with prices rising, i guess i'll never get my 250 of each i wanted. i only need 30 more of each to get full piles... my precioooousssssesss

of course if they're used for armor in chap 2 that would be a nice bonus =)

If I were you I'd dumb them all and buy 500 of each new rare item that appears in C2 traders, and do the same again for C3 and C4.. soon you'd be so rich you can literally bankrupt the NPCs overnight

GW even said they might make a use for rubys and sapphires just because all of you 'prospectors'. Personally I'd just say it wasnt meant for anything, why change it. But that's me, shrug.

Who knows, maybe the use is a "gold sink". When C2 comes out they just remove it from all traders and not use it anywhere. If you want you are free to sell it to the merchants at 200g a pop or just keep it as a rare collector's item

Why is there a need for a new thread every time the price of rare materials changes?

Well, maybe its because of the rising number of ECTO's in the game? If you want something's price to keep rising, you need the amount of it in the game to fall. I don't know if any of you guys have heard of/played the game RuneScape, but if you have, you will probably know what I mean. In RuneScape, there are various nice weapons + armor, and there are rare items which were only obtainable on one day ages ago, unless you buy them from other players... Take the dragon chain for example, this is not a rare item in the sense that you can get more of them, however it is VERY good, and very useful... But, because more and more are added into the game, the price will never rise and continues to fall slowly each day... Wheras, one of the rares, a blue partyhat (a paper hat that does nothing but look good), because of its limited stock, has rose from 300 gold to 150,000,000 gold over a period of a year or two...

What I'm trying to get at is, those items that arn't limited, will eventually fall, because more players will continue to get them, and in their rush to sell them, they will sell them cheaper... Once one player sells it cheaper, the others will have to put their prices down if they want to sell, and so the prices drop and drop...

As I said on another thread, there is no guarantee they will be used for anything that gives you a practical benefit. As far as I remember, the idea what that jewellry might be brought in to help make your characters look more special. If the jewels have a use it will be there - I doubt that they will become new ectos.

I am 99.9% certain that a bubble in those prices will form before Chapter 2 - and then burst, resulting in lots of angry speculators

i believe in a lions arch frog/Gaile session the possibility of *socketed items* (ff?) was mentioned as a possibility.

remember that it was mentioned that they would probably be USEFUL not simply decorative.
