Man, this is so Counter-culture, but I have never had a problem with Rurik dying. As a monk, yep, I healed him. As an [anything else] I killed things before they got him.
Is this really so odd...? All the missions that still had him in it were really easy... I can't even say I found him very irritating -- you see, I've teamed up with players.

You had to run the whole time to keep up with him, and he never stopped if you fell behind - you'd see his health start dropping because he was on the next group, while you were catching your breath. I miss the old days of frantically following him.
