Little mixed on assassin.

Yeah, I do see the potential for some stacking etc. Don't really see them being the 'war replacement' some others are worried about. Sure they can do some damage, but then again so can an air ele. wouldn't want one as tank necessarily. Seems pretty well balanced. Not sure I go for the front line nature along with low armor tho. I feel it would be a little more realistic to offer an inherent chance of evasion with this kind of char to offset that a bit. I don't see these chars as being overpowered really. Alot of chars can be exploited AKA trap and iway lamers, but you just have to be clever and counter with your own skills and builds. Thats the prob with lazy people and reading 'how to play' online instead of having the fun of actually playing and tweaking. Same philosophy as having someone run you and play game for you essentially. A personality type. Really would like to see some inherent evasion, not in the form of skill. Add a little realism and set the class apart from others so it hasa little less 'more of the same' feel to it.

I don't see assassin replacing warrior as they have some completely different skills. One I find interesting for assassin is to turn into a black smoke almost and you can then run from battle. This can cause foes to run after you and you can lead them away. Of course after a few moments, you teleport back to the clear zone. Lets see some fat male warrior meat shield do that!
But either rate, I agree with you, I don't see them replacing the warriors. Thats like saying the ritualist will replace the monks. Sure the ritualist has some awsome enchantment skills, but thats besides the point.

The biggest balancing factor, nearly past the point of weakness, is how easy it is to beat Assassins with energy denial. Hell, even Spirit Shackles and Mindwrack is enough to cripple an assassin. Then you do something like Enfeeble or blind them and they're done.

Yeah, I found out eariler that any mesmer is capable of preventing an assassin from doing ANYTHING other than standing, with the right skills. And a Me/N or N/Me can apparently give an assassin 10+ ticks of degeneration on top of that. It seems a little excessive to me.

it's rock paper scissor in this game or hadn't you noted?
they even have an emote for it.
yes a particular combo class can give an assassin hurt - should they not?
assassin can deliver hurt too
and you don't have to be incapable of defense from hexes and conditions, some are in the assassin line-up and you could leverage your 2ndary...

For me, the Assasin is pretty much the ultimate HoH tool (old one mind you). It works great in a team, but solo-wise it's crap.

-Edit- Oh wait, he was a Me/N like I said, but it might have been Empathy that he had on me, not SS.

It's not so much the degen that bothers me. The Assassin's main problem is if you miss the first part of a chain, you're essentially useless for 12 seconds until your lead recharges. Of course, if it hits, you do about 300 damage with the full chain plus a fair share of status effects, which evens it out. Also, I think Critical strikes is a good way to compensate. With that, even if your chain fails, your normal attacks still have the chance to do a large amount of damage. It's the ritualist that bothers me...For some reason, those things are damn near invincible...Perhaps it's just me, though, I'm a relatively new to PvP.
EDIT:
And yet, even with all this, and even though we've had the class for 2 days, everyone and their mother is calling for a nerf...What I wouldn't give for a "Beat morons over the head with a stick" emote right about now. How's about you give the class more then 5 minutes playtime or one RA battle before deciding the brand-new class needs to be beaten senseless with nerfs already?

Nah. I had an easy time taking them down with an assassin, providing they werent standing near one of those knock down spirits. I also played ritualist. I havent unlocked much so I'm pretty much stuck with the given template now. Once I put down spirits I'm pretty much useless besides for wanding.
