Dual-wielding?

I haven't played the game, and don't know much about it. Are classes able to dual wield? If so, which ones? And which classes is it good for?

There are no dual-wielding class in GW, althoug there are speculations that there might be those classes in the expansions.

Wow, that's like starting an ice cream business and not carrying chocolate ice cream.
You can choose to go Weapon/shield or 2-Handed, right? If so, what are the major differences?

With one handed and two handed you control the waepon modifiers in a way that you can't with two weapons.

Unless you make special paired dual wielding weapons of course... like claws

I would love to see this in the game eventually, but I highly doubt it will happen until one of the expansions comes out. There's not really a suitable class for it either at this point. Warriors have enough weapon options as it is, and I don't think they are smart enough to dual-wield their hands much less two weapons

Hopefully there will be a rouge or assassin type class in one of the expansions that specializes in dual-wielding dagger like weapons and uses speed over power.

If by 2 handed you mean a single 2 handed weapon, then, yes, there are weapon/shield and 2-handed options. With weapons, you have axes, swords, and hammers for the warrior. Elementalists, monks, mesmers, and necros have wands (1 hand) or staffs (2 hand). The rangers have their bows of course. As for the off-hand, if you don't have a shield, there are idols or symbols that gives an energy boost when equipped.

Like Luggage said, dual-wielding is when you have 2 weapons with different modifiers that deals different damage etc. None of the 5 professions in GW now is schooled in that. Perhaps we'll get that with the expansion.

Why does everyone talk about new classes?

Why not new races?

If they ever add new races (and everything so far seems to indicate that they plan on it), I really hope it's purely aesthetic and doesn't affect gameplay. Just a personal preference, I guess, but I like being able to choose my race based completely on background and how it looks, not which one is best with which classes. Plus, races that differ statistically just make balancing that much harder.

As for dual-wielding, I know this won't be a popular idea, but if they ever decide they want it in the game in some form, I like the notion suggested a few posts back of single weapons that simply show up as two weapons, rather than an actual dual wielding system.
