Hi,
I used to play GW for a while with no problem, then a few months ago I had to reformat my computer and lost all my GW files. I didnt find the need to install GW untill recently since I was busy with work and all (I just happened to see the new weekend event earlier this week). However when I go to install from my disk, it just keeps saying that its connecting to arenanet. I have even ran this over night figuring that it had a large amount of file to DL, but even after 8 hrs it shoul have been finished, however I still see the same installation screen with the bar going accross the bottom saying that it is connecting to ArenaNet...
I did do a search here at this forum and another forum similar to this and there are a number of people having the same issue. I am wondering if there is and resolve to this. I Have checked my router and disabled my firewalls also. Any help would be greatly apreciated since the other replies mentioned that arenanet has been unhelpful in this matter.
Edit: BTW I have a linksys wireless G router, if that may help any?
Connecting to Arenanet... Help Pls!

I think it a corruption in the gw.dat file. Try un-install and re-installing the game. That is what I had to do to fix mine.

Thanx for the reply.
however I did try to do a search on my HD for that file as sugested in another thread, but since I reformatted my computer that file does not exist.
I am thinking its a problem with my router

Thanks Alex,
I checked the support linked in your reply. I tried various things with port forwarding and crap, and dl a program that helped with port forwarding. It seems to be installing the client now. I will have to wait untill after the football games before seeing if I can actualy connect to the game itself and have some fun. I look forward to trying the new professions in the arenas.
