I really want the ability to stealth with assasins. I can understand that it would destroy PvP. But what could it do to PvE. Make so if youre level ,for example, 7 and uses stealth level 15-20 can see you WHEREVER YOU ARE but 7-14 only can see you if you come really close. This would add a lot of fun i think.

If it would unbalance something, TELL ME WHY

since a PVE character can go into any pvp arena/gvg/etc i think you have already answered your own question.

Because theres no need, if someone could sneak past undetected, they could easily run to cutscenes and stuff, and practically skip over a mission. The assassins skills, especially the teleporting, give it enough of a feel of stealth and surprise without actually giving him invisibilty.

I'm with him here. It's not like the stealth in WoW, but who ever said stealth needs to be that you van be invisible.

stealth would be cool but total wreck the game as assasins would have such an advantage if you went to fight one and it disaperd and emerged behinde your back hit you and dissaperd again it would be almost impsible to hit or kill it.

Yeah this isn't your DAOC stealth either. I don't even know why they call it shadow steps I can see them do everything. But, it was fun using one elite where you can jump right to a character and slap him/her around pretty good then click off the enchantment and you shadow step back to where you started from when you cast it. It's not what I would really call an elite ability, but, it's an elite non the less.

Oh and that's another thing and correct me if I missed it, but, where's the backstab bonus skill for attacking your opponent from behind??? There should be advantages for rear attacks methinks.

look at the elite Shadow Form. if that isnt stealth enough for you, i dont know what is

*meant shadow form*

Quote:
Shadow Form
5 energy, 1 cast, 60 recharge
Elite enchantment spell. For 5...17 seconds, all hostile spells that target you fail and all attacks against you miss. When Shadow Form ends, lose all but 5...41 health.
that + any speed boost, and theres your stealth

You can always play that mission that happens in the night though . What's it called? Dark River? Oh well.

Buy MGS4 for PS3 or Splinter Cell. Those are great stealth games.

Yea I was kind of hoping for a Rogue like stealth option from EQ. Early on you caould "hide" giving you 100% invisibility as long as you didn't move. Later, you could sneak making your aggro range smaller. And finally merging the two skills you could hide and sneak getting past all foes but those that could see invisible (most undead for that matter could see you). As class unique skills, you could also run while hidden, but only for a short time.
I loved that in EQ, but don't see how it would work in GW unless they made it so each person (in PvE) had to reach a portal to get to the next area (stop easy running) and in PvP; they would have to almost disable the skill all together.
As it is, I'll take what I can get. I can't wait to start an Assassin (as those and Rogue like characters are always my fav to play)...

Because this game is meant to have both PvE and PvP aspects integrated, you can't just have skills and then say "Oh yeah, but you can't use that in PvP since it's overpowered" certain skills suit either PvE or PvP more but there's always a way they can be utilised even in the gametype they're seemingly unsuited for.

Guild Wars is a team game, it's about teams of adventurers carrying out missions with each members skills complementing the others, that'd why there's a limitaton to eight skills, that's why there are unorthodox classes like the Mesmer, they can do things other classes can't BUT not to the extent that they can discard a group and do their own thing, which stealth would facilitate. Any form of stealth would wreck the game IMO.

A rose by any other name...is called Critical Hit. More chance to make one from the back, and if I'm not mistaken, the asassin has a nearly whole line dedicated to increasing the chances of crits.

stealth would open create a highway of runners throughout the game.

Stealth does not mean invisible. An assassin can sneak around pretty damn good. As more guys said here, it'll rune pvp.
MMS Dome has a good point about the running thing...
An invisible option just does not fit in the game. If you want to compensate with the invisible option you must make the assassin a very weak attacker or the assassin will be overpowerd. No one wants a very weak character that can only be invisible. So Arenanet please don't add a stealth option...

In PvE in Guild Wars if you dont use a bit of stealth you will not last long, so
think a bit and you will see you dont need a Skills for that.

I say smaller aggro circle to scout. Wouldn't be useful in PvP. They would need a way to keep running down, but It would be nice to have an Assassin scout out groups of enemies.
