[I]ive just got the game and i went to install it and it comes up with a screen sayin connecting to arena net, the bar gets 3/4 up and then it just stops moving but i checked to see if the loadin screen was responding and it is. I then checked my fire wall i turned it all off and tried still no luck. I have the right specs for the game i aint a idiot lol so could any plzplzplzplzplz help me in my time of grave need.
My comp specs are: windows xp home, 2.2ghz, intel p4, 512mb ram, ge force4 mx420
any help would be excelent as arena net dont offer a phone line the bastads and ther community tech support is anything but technical :S

This actually sounds like a problem with the install media. It your purchased the game from a store as a boxed set of cds, the game client should not be attempting to contact Anet. The system should actually instead be attempting to read the data from all the disk in your box. The installation of Guild wars has nothing to do with internet access, until you attempt to run the game for the first time at which point it will download updates.
You should check that your install device is functioning correctly and that the media is not damaged. If the device is in good shape the cause is more likely related to the install media and you should return to the store at which you purchased the game and get a new copy.

Actually the first thing it does is check for new patches and stream them before reading the main data files. I installed it at home w/ a firewall and even though I disabled it after the client ran, I still had to restart the executable after the firewall was off before it would actually connect. Sounds like a software problem, as your internet service is obviously not down and their application is capable of functioning.
