How's this reasoning?

Hello,
I was wondering if my reasoning was correct about the gladiator armor.
I dont like it so much so I've been thinking about something. Firstly, not knowing how much extra energy gladiator armor gives you withought the helmet (because of better helmets) I assumed that it gives you around +5ish energy
Now, knowing that platemail gives you 85 armor and gladiator 80
85 - 80 x 4~5 parts = 20~25 armor loss
Now, I remember the Collector that has the +5 energy shield. Max shield armor being 16 and this one being 6
16 - 6 = 10, difference of 10~15 armor points
Woudnt a Warrior wearing platemail and with a +5 energy shield be worth considering much more?
But then shield mods come into effect.
What are your thoughts on Additional 10~15 armor VS having shield mods on this armor concept?

You're thinking about the armour system the wrong way.
Having platemail does not = 85x4 = 340 compared to 80x4 = 320.
When you are being attacked, your attacker has a certain % in which to hit you in the Chest, head, gloves, pants and boots.
So really, you only have 85 Armour.
What is it that you don't like about Gladiator's armour? The "Fear my Nipple" effect? (Male version)
The extra energy is probably going to benefit you more then an extra 5 armour, It really depends on your build.

Former Ruling
Glad's without the Glad helmet gives +7 Energy.
For only a 5 armor loss.

+3 Hauberk
+2 Leggings
+1 Gauntlets
+1 Boots
You need to consider the other modifiers from the armour as well. Gladiator also have +20 AL vs Physical, whereas the Platemail have a lower +10 AL vs Physical.

yeah, technically glads is better vs physical attacks
If platemail was 95 no mods then it would be worth it, but as is Glads is really the best armour around, Shame it looks so bad on a male warrior

I've always hear from people for example
a +5 pommel of defense is better because its VS all then a +7 pommel of shelter vs physical
Woudnt the same apply here?
Woudnt the additional armor be worth more then the additional +2 energy from gladiator armor, even though you lose a few mods on the shield?

Shield only protects from the front so that is another factor. I'll stick with my energy 26 gladiators + knights boots + AL12 "while enchanted" shield for +45/-2.

Since many spells bypass armor it doesn't really matter what armor you are wearing vs elemental damage, but, it does matter vs melee damage and the gladiator armor gives a +5 bonus over plate armor and a +8 bonus over knights armor (calculating the -2 dmg reduction from the armor itself). All other things being equal gladiator armor is just the best choice overall. Excluding situational times when certain elemental damage does not bypass armor. Then and only then does Plate armor gain an advantage.
As for the mods/upgrades +5 defense vs +7 for an elemental or +7 for physical, once again here you have a mod that provides a decent amount of armor bonus vs both elemental and physical and only works on damage that doesn't bypass armor. Since most intelligent pvpers are going to make the best build they can many will use the spells that bypass armor, thus here the +7 vs physical isn't such a bad choice, but, for those just in case moments when someone is using and elemental weapon or you get hit by a spell that doesn't bypass armor the +5 defense mod is the best choice on your primary weapon setup. As your backup weapon set you should change the +5 defense mod into a +30 hit point mod to gain those extra seconds of life that could be the determining point of whether you live and win the fight or lose. Though it doesn't happen often I have had battles won where I only had 1 hp left after switching to my 2nd weapon set with more hit points.

The only downside to gladiator's armor is the male armor looks like crap. (excuse my "french")
Female gladiator's at least half decent.

Similarly, taking gladiator's instead of platemail means you lose 5 armor vs elemental, but gain 5 vs physical, and you gain 7 energy. The scales are clearly weighted towards the gladiator's, unless you know your opponents use much more elemental damage than physical.
