ArenaNet took my build and made it a template. :-(

I made my build from scratch, from trial and error, until I found something unique that I liked to play, and I had something much different than any other ranger build out there. Each skill I used was something I searched for and experimented with, never taking any advice or input from other players. I wanted to create my own style of fighting, using skills that were either unpopular or not widely used.

But now I see they made a new ranger template that pretty much copies my setup skill for skill, now it's turning into FotM and there's a bunch of ranger clones running around with my setup. It says the build was originaly created by a guild called In Visus Excilium, but the setup nearly matches the one I've been using for a long time, and the attribute placement is also the same.

Anyone else had their unique builds hijacked with this patch?

Apparently it wasn't unique after all.

Not many people used poison pre-patch, and those that did would use apply poison instead because "Poison Arrow is a waste of an elite slot." I never saw a single person use Poison arrow in 4v4 random, selected, or Tombs. I used poison arrow exclusively to blanket the enemy team with DoTs, and I even made a thread about how it is an overlooked skill. Then ArenaNet released the big update to the PvP arenas with new templates, and I see every other ranger running around with my exact same setup. :-P

Apply poison is a waste of a preparation :P I loved poison arrow in the beta weekend where skills were unlocked, can't wait until I capture it

I have used poison arrow simply because it was the only elite i had ^^.

If you took the time to make the build yourself, then what's to keep other players from making that same build using a specific set of abilities? Sure you were the first, but did you make it clear when you built it? If it's effective, then other people are going to find it and use it. Be content with knowing that you made it first, at least you believe you did.

I realize my first post here sounded a bit mean, and I just wanted to make it clear I didn't mean it that way. Seriously, you should feel proud -- your build was so good, now everybody wants it! Most of the people you meet in game won't know you had it first, but you will. And we will!

I've always been using Poison Arrow since it is more effective than Apply Poison in my opinion. If "your" unique skill setup has been "taken" somehow and cloned by alot of rangers then just try to make another more effective setup like i always do.

Shoulda tried to copyright it then you coulda sued them, OH wait if your in the US you still might be able to any way after all when a woman can spill cofee in her lap while driving to work and WIN because the coffee was HOT you might be able to get some cash anyways.

The only time I use apply poison is on a melee Ranger/Warrior. There are just better preparations to use with your arrows
