To get the most experience you can, you do not do any quests until you have levelled up from fighting monsters until they no longer give you experience. After that you do all the quests, as their experience rewards are not affected by level. It'd probably be possible to get even higher if you kept on raiding the Northlands before questing.

The highest level I saw when I was in pre-searing a couple of weeks ago was level 10.

There are lvl 10 charr in the northlands. That can get you to 10 or 11 if you are very persistent or very bored.

I stayed in pre-searing til I hit level10; I didn't bother saving up quests to do later, I just kept going to the Northlands to kill things. In hind sight it's not really worth doing, and you may as well just go post searing for more fun.

When me and a friend first bought this game I brought my PC over to his house and we played together over the internet. We had no clue that you have to speak to Sir Tydus, heck we didnt even know about pre- and post-searing Ascalon. He was lvl 10 I was lvl 9, and we were still trying to get past the Charrs at the North Wall, determined that thats where the game continues. Asking people in local chat didnt help cause they as usual didnt answer.

In an act of despair my bud went to Sir Tydus and thats when we found out what to do. My point is, probably more than half of the high lvl players in pre-searing have no idea what to do next!

Hmmm, come to think of it, i've never seen any clear ~GO TO ACADEMY!~ clues anywhere except Tydus' dialogue.

Well, if you talk to any gaurd after you hit like lvl 5, he'll tell you that Tydus wants to see you about going on a mission.

yeah, but when I talked to tydus and pressed accept, I had no clue I had to talk to him again to go to the acadamy and there were no pointers so I leveled up a bit more before I clicked on him again later when I was bored from completing all the quests.

Myself and a friend stuck around and cleared the northland area, 4 named and some decent drops for that level. Was a nice intro on how to approach certain situations as well.

You could hunt to level 16 (or would it be 17?) using charr in the Northlands. This would take FOREVER as there are only 4 level 10 creatures in the entire pre-searing area.

After that point, you could use quests to get further experience but I suspect you'd only get a level or two.

So, theoretically, I'd wager the highest level you can attain in pre-searing would be 18.

Myself, I jumped ship @ level 12.

The strongest I've seen was probably 12 or 13 don't really remember, because it was my younger brother's character, he wouldn't leave to the academy.

saving the quests for last is useless...once you've hit lvl10 there isn't enough XP in per-sear to get you to lvl11 from quests...so do them whenever you want.

My monk is lvl13 still in pre.

16 is the highest level you can attain in pre
