I had a buddy that I used to play with that got rich wayyyyy early in the game with the very things that now seem obvious to do if you want to make in-game money. One of the things I thought he was throwing his money away on once 'on a hunch' was tons of sapphires, rubies and diamonds at the rare materials trader when they were first introduced before they all ran out. Nobody had a CLUE what they were for 'back in the day' so ergo, I thought he was being, ummmm....eccentric. But, hey....it was his money and rich folks are known to be eccentric, so I just grinned and cheered him on while privately winking.

Of course, in hind-sight this was an amazingly astute thing to do on his part, and sadly, he proved the old adage of "You can't take it with you when you go...." completely wrong because both him and his gold never logged in again one fateful day.

-And now to the discussion at hand....the items that the Wiki terms "Remnants of Gwen" left over from our ill-fated acquaintance with Gwen. {sigh} I know I am going to cause people to laugh and point (or is it point and laugh?....I can never get that straight)
I actually keep a character in Pre-Searing even after 2yrs of play, just because.....well, I liked Gwen after the initial annoyance wore off, and when my very first character left and doom rained down upon Ascalon...it wasn't long before I began to...miss her. (just a little bit, you understand) No my presearing character isn't the same one after all this time, and it's not there to be level-20 in Pre-. I get a kick out of starting another one from time-to-time so I just boot one and begin fresh. (after going through the searing and banking my Gwen-Loot of course) I know, loser!
Well, due to my fondness of the character Gwen and all, I have over the 2yrs I have played found a few tattered girls capes myself at Fisherman's before they were removed from the game. I even had one drop once (and no one will believe me) at Perdition rock from a Hydra (I swear it) If these things do have some benefit to a player who has stubbornly held on to them for all this time.... (and I tend to think SOMETHING must be in the offing regarding this, as I received a "Preserved Red Iris Flower...Quest Item" during my early travels in Nightfall as a young Dervish) -then I may be as luckily astute as my erstwhile friend was. To date I have accumulated 30-odd capes, over 30-odd Flutes, Broken Flutes (both Pre AND Post-Searing) and 27 of the famous 'Tattered Girl's Cape'....I haven't found anyone who still has one or even knows anyone who says they have one (or even knows what the heck I am talking about in some time) Red Iris Flowers? LMAO....I could start a FLORIST business in 3-countries with the amount of those things I have, hehe.
Before anyone asks, or bothers to PM me.....NO....they are NOT for sale.
They are for Gwen....when and if we meet again one day.
No this is not some creepy/nerdy pixel-love thingy, it's just a memorial in a kind of way to a character that to me symbolizes what all in Ascalon lost in the searing. I think that if we meet, she deserves to know she was remembered, that's all. And what if it's all just clutter in my vault? What then? Well, you know what they say; One man's trash...is another man's treasure.
Anywho!...that's my two-cents......
Good journeys to ye'
