Yesterday I read a post concerning a stolen identity incident where one person claimed to be another, using what he/she claimed was the first person’s second account, to sell an item originally put up for auction on this site.
(names are fictitious)
Seller (Joe): Up for auction: The Stonehart
Buyer (Sam): I’ll take it
Impersonator (Jerk): [seeing auction on GWG] Hey Sam, I’m Joe on my second account, ready to buy?
Sam: Sure, here’s my money
Jerk: ty
A while later…
Joe: Hey Sam, you won the action on The Stonehart, ready to meet?
Sam: WTH…I just bought it from you on your second account…?
Joe: What?
This post also included a screen shot of Joe and Sam’s meeting.
The post did include some specific threats to the Jerk, so I’m guessing that’s why it disappeared.
Point being, the jerk should be banned for life….no excuse for that sort of behavior.

something like that happened. but other way around. in my perspective.
the seller was smart tho.. he/she was like could you go on the name of Miss Temptress, so i know its up, and i will sell. cuz apparently someone said they were me to buy the item, (cheap, i guess :P) but got caught

This is a very good example of why people shouldn't include the IGN in the details of their auction. It's very easy for someone to come on and say it's the person who won the auction, just a second account.
For you sellers - if someone says they are the winner of your auction but the IGN doesn't match the name in the email you receive (and not just a different character - a different account), ask the person to send you an email with the different IGN.
I do have multiple accounts and am fairly active with the auctions. I always send an email if I'm using a character from my second account before whispering the person I'm buying from.

Just make sure he shows the item before placing your gold up.

Just as a disclaimer here, though I believe the OP was talking about a ban in game:
Guild Wars Guru does not ban for events that happen in game. Even with all the screenshots in the world, we have no way of verifying they are real, they haven't been altered or that we know all the circumstances behind them. If it truly is a serious infraction then ArenaNet will take care of it within their power since it is their game. I have heard some pretty convincing stories w/ screenshots before only to later find out that things did not go down exactly as was portrayed. Therefore, the person will not be banned and it's a warning to people that they need to be cautious and take a step back to ensure that they are not being scammed. I can only control and monitor situations that happen on the forums, I am not responsible nor do I police what happens in game.
