Suprior Rune of Absorption
carloskappa
I was very lucky yesterday and snagged a Superior Rune of Absorption. I have a Major on my armor now. Is it worth it to replace the Major with the Superior, or should I just sell it? I've been doing mostly PvE. But I really want to get more involved with my Guild and do more PvP.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Daft Frik
I'm gonna guess it's what's more important to you, the difference between the runes, or the money?
Not to derail, but I was wondering if the Sup. Absorbtion will stack with knights armor?

Yes it does stack.
Well if you only want that Sup Rune on you to PvP you might as well just make a PvP only char instead. If you do a lot of farming/running and think that the 1 point of damage reduction would make a large difference then use it, otherwise sell it for some good gold.

Superior Rune of Absorption, Shield with -2 in Stance, -2 Enchanted or something, + 1 piece of any Knight's Armour.
I think is the most you can get for the most damage reduction.

If you got the Sup. rune as a drop, then it will be unlocked on your PVP characters, so thats settled there. As far as Major vs Superior. Yes I would just replace the major with Sup. I just HATE thinking about salvaging my droks armor, only to get iron ingots, have to craft new armor and didnt even get the rune to sell back. Just replace it, thats what I did anyways.

There are shields that have -3 dmg reduction. Plus, arent there some skills with dmg reduction for warriors or something? For some reason I am thinking they exist...maybe a stance. I'm pretty sure you can go higher than -3 shield, sup absorption rune, and -1 from knights.

Superior rune of absorption is -3 damage, major is -2, I still cant justify the 90k for 1 damage, but then again, I am frivilous with my cash, I hoard alot of it and dont like to drop it all the time. My two cents.

I had the same dilemma when I first found a sup vigor...sell the bugger for a sweet 50k or so or use it for an extra 9 hlth...well I used it and regreted it, but I would do the same with a sup abs. I would use it and reget it later, oh well. Rune users remorse.

The highest smg reduction you can get is Knight's Armor (+1) Superior Absorbtion, (+3) and either a -3 dmg always (yes, they do exist) or the Crimson Carapace Shield (-2 dmg while enchanted), (-2 dmg (10% chance))
That's -8 dmg total.-9 10% of the time.

In my personal and strictly professional opinion, Absorbsion runes aren't even worth equipping. Especially with the minus 75 health. Do they really make that big a difference? If I were you, I would sell it. But thats just me. Please argue with me!

Absorption Runes don't give - ANY health.

wow does muphin man even own the game? or just never made a warrior?
better watch out man, a superior vigor has a -75 health too
anyways, the -2 from major is more then enough, sell that bad boy and get yourself a nice weapon and shield

Lady Blue Steel apparently teaches how to keep up -10 dmg as you run Lonars Pass in her Running Academy. Not sure whats up there...I know the superior absorption is -3, -3 shields (that requires a condition...maybe enchanted?) -1 knights armor. Thats -7 right there.

As a runner I can tell you two things about sup absorption.
1. It is absolutely worth it
2. You can run without it
If though you can run without it even the best runner dies ocassionaly and sometimes 1-2 health total (quite literally) can be the difference between life and death. I can't tell you how many times I have hit my heal sig with 1 life remaining.
So do the math, you are running through a mob of 10 monsters who hit you twice in 3 seconds then it is likely to have reduced your total damage take by 20. You have a total of 530 hp (assuming sup vig) which means that you saved approximately 3% of your total health.
Any runner reading this will vouch that that is a lot of health.
That said, I bought a sup vigor and absorb for my plate and ran with that for a long time. Then I decided to get 15k glads and I cheaped out and didnt buy either for a long time and I was able to run just fine.
It boils down to ease not necessity.
Good luck with your choice

The highest you can get is 10.
Sup Abs= -3
Knight's= -2
Shield with:
Dmg -2 (stance/enchant)
Dmg -3 (hexed)
No it isn't permanent or reliable even, but it's possible.

This means she is using a stacking shield.
I am not sure how she gets to constant absorption but I believe the shields are as follows
-2 stance -2 enchant (or some combo meaning you can get -4 stacking if you are both in a stance and enchanted)
-2 stance -3(10%) chance (replace stance with enchant or hex)
-2 stance -3(hexed) etc etc you get the point
As far as I know, there is no shield that gives -3 reduction all the time (enchanted or stance) for a positive reason. -3 relates only to hex or a percentage.
So you can get -3 from sup rune, -2 from knights or ascalon and potentially -4 to 5 more from the shield depending on the situation. So you can get it to 10 but not reliably. You can do 9 fairly reliably with sprint or balanced stance + veil or mending always running using a -2,-2 enchant and stance shield.
Tell you what though, you don't need -10 reduction. When I am running enchanted in a stance with my -2,-2 shield hill giants in snake dance do 0-1 damage with their normal attacks.
She could potentially use shielding hands, Im not sure what the recharge time is on that but it adds -2 reduction with 0 attribute points in that skill.

dont feel no pain
to be honest i cnat stand the aborbtion gaps in dmg reduction , it such a large money gap for -1 dmg between mahjor and suprior , it should be.
minor -1
major -3
suprior -5
at least more than a -1 gap

between major and sup absorption is huuuuuge diffrence... if you are soloing anything this -1 per hit absorbs hundreds in whole fight

thing is if you want it, its always available now in PvP builds... so heck yea... sell off that baby. jobs done its unlocked... I did the same thing with faction very early... so I would have it for PvP. For a long time I was thinking it was a myth till I unlocked it with faction. lol But I saw one drop yesterday for a party member. (hes showed us the armor after he Ided it cause no one believed he got it from that chest in shiverpeaks)... I always thought it was a drop in Fire islands only. But I guess not... I was happy for him cause that is a tremendous gold boost for him and he said he has never had more then about 20K in the game... so at least for a while he has a nice little nest egg unless he blows it on something ridiculous.
