How far out there (and pointless) is a W/Me build?

Just wondering. Ive been mildly experimenting (say, pre-sear only) and I was just wondering if I would be wasting my time. Im definitely new to this game, too.

There's one skill called...Illusionary Weapons or something. It's pretty leet, etc. Basically, I see a W/Me being actually quite useful. I'd play it by running up to someone (ex. a monk), using any skills that interrupted, and just slowly whittling down the monk. I think it's doable...

It is an excellent build if you decide to be a warrior killer in pvp and it will be equally enjoyable in pve. There are many skills in the mesmer lineup that cause large amounts of grief to attacking warriors, Empathy is a particularly nasty one. In the arena you can easy defend your casters and monks with a setup that uses such a build, intercept and cast it on an attacking warrior and watch them kill themselves as you assist their demise with your own adrenal attacks. Good fun. Valarian.

W/Me's are actually really good when it comes to PvP.

I have a W/Me and used it in the Arena at level 7 and I could kill any of the level 8-10's I saw, even the Pally's. (Backfire.)

pwnage. would it make sense to be a w/mo though. i figure that since warriors regen hp fairly quickly anyway, there's no need to be a healing monk. any suggestions?

A common build involves using all of the Axes condition giving skills + Fragility and/or Epidemic + Victory is Mine!.

Backfire and Empathy are great skills but they cost too much. Backfire costs 15, meaning you already have to wait to use Empathy which costs 10. It just wasnt viable with my lvl 18 Wa/Me. Ether Feast is too weak for PvP cause it doesnt heal enough and you must have an enemy available to use it on.

You could go anti-Wa/Mo seeing that theres at least one if these guys in every PvP fight. Spirit Shackles really take them out fast since they cant heal themselves.

The other thing you can do is go for Illusionary Magic and use Phantasm. Gash, Sever and Phantasm does some serious damage over time and its definitely nice to take out almost anyone. BUT, the DoT wont cut it against Monks. They heal faster.

One spell that is always to be considered is Hex Breaker. No matter where you poured your points into, Hex Breaker will cause one Hex cast on you to fail. Definitely nice to fend of some Phantasms.

Theres many possibilities to try out and its imho all a matter of preference but you are limited by your Energy supply.

Mo/Me

Got my beat down by an IW warrior who also used backfire last night in the arena, it's pretty decent.

Wouldn't say it's too feasible in tombs though; W/Mo for the win. Generally the warriors need to be running around ressurecting, which the W/Me can't do.

You can Echo Fear Me.

Some of the Inspiration stuff is cheap enough to use, and IW is expensive but you can swing it.

Generally Mesmer stuff is too slow/expensive to really mesh well, though.
