Who else has seen this statue in the desert?
Gorebrex
I dont know if its a graphic error or not...
If you get closer, statue above knees disappears, cant find screen of it.

The statue falls over and forms a bridge
Gorebrex
Never saw it fall, I kept walking towards it and it disappeared right in front of me. Ive seen, used the bridge though, wouldve thought it would have always been down, and not visible upright.
NekoZ
Yeah it was a quest that was taken out I believe.
Wrath Of Dragons
my friend pointed it out to me a couple days ago. we were doin the 15-att quest and hes like "watch the statue" and i was all "ya dude i see it big whup."
then it fell over. it was slightly unexpected

Anyone who has done the 15 points att should have seen the statue.
I heared that in the old betas you had to knock it down yourself to make the bridge to get to the guy with the quest.

I always considered this to be a trickery of the souls lost in the desert.
We can see their glory and splendor because of the haze and heat, but when we come close, all we see is ruin and destruction.

wow, never seen it fall over before, but i have seen it standing up and walked over it... 3 times... hmmm better watch it the 4th time.
Glasswalker
The first few times I saw it, I was soon in a battle with Sand Giants. When I looked back for it to take the screencap, it was gone. When I later crossed it, I figured it must have been the Giants' Stomping that knocked it over.
The last time, I avoided the Giants entirely to see if I could approach it while it was still standing, and at a certain distance it just disappeared. Didn't fall or anything.

i never knew it was that one that forms the bridge... do u actually see it fall or does it just disappear and appear fallen over when u get there?
Wrath Of Dragons
i think it just dissappears
SincorpDeath
i know it just disappears. Once you get within a certain distance, it instantly teleports into the bridge. i think it's more of an easter egg to see it up.
Gorebrex
Well, to be honest, I was thinking MAYBE its a vision off the future, since we all get an individual copy of map area we're in, and its a female statue, my character's female, maybe a statue OF her, created by someone after finishing game. Kind of a monument or something, just speculation.
BTW, how about seeing some of you people's screens of it?

dargon
if you play with the sound on, you can hear it fall
BBoy_Manchild
nope never seen it, its fake, your photoshopping skills suck
Wrath Of Dragons
its a woman for me too, and im not a woman
eightyfour-onesevenfive
I always considered it to be sort of a fata morgana. From the distance you see the statue as it has been once, long time ago.

What kind of sound system do you have? LOL! I never heard it, and I ALWAYS play with sound. Have Audigy 2ZS, w/Inspire 7700 speakers, turned up a bit(fairly loud to better hear distant battle sounds), but never hear a falling/crashing sound.
Elena
i'd love a cutscene for it falling over

He has the Butt Kicker that hooks up to your chair. So when it falls he flies 15 feet into the air.
kimahri
I've never seen it tumble over, and I've been there 4 times, and walked over it 3 times. But maybe it does fall over, I dunno. I always found the statue cool. BTW, it's always female to me.
dont feel no pain
ive seen it , its real , just when u get close it ain't there anymore
Lord Scoopula
This is interesting, I've never seen it up before...that's pretty cool. I didn't even realize it was a statue I was walking over until I walked over its head...even then I was like...nahhh
Big_Iron
Yeah, it's for real. I've been there many times. It does fall and become a bridge as part of the 15 pt attrib quest. Though I've never actually seen it fall and the last time I went, I made a point of trying to watch it. For me, it just suddenly dissappeared and made the bridge. Maybe it's a graphics thing. When you get up there to cross the bridge it makes, it doesn't look passable, but obviously, it is.
Massassi
its a cool effect. They have it standing as a 2d sprite in the distance and when you get within the range that the 2d dissapears you see the 3d bridge map object
or maybe not....just a guess
D.E.V.i.A.N.C.E
the statue is wearing 15K Knights armor... lets go jump her while shes down
Da Immortal King
when it falls you actually get to walk on her boobs i mean really big boobs, i like to walk back and forth between them its so fun.

MMSDome

I have seen it upright but when you get closer it is over to form a bridge and it is Female Warrior wearing Knights armor in the Arid Sea.

Supposedly they brought about there own destruction using the ancient weapon, since some of the ghosts mention this(if I remember correctly). I've always fancied the enormous bloodstained area just south of statue that is littered with giant bones, like something horrible had happened and had stained the ground forever.

OMFGimCUTE
ive seen it
fiery
ya its pretty real the 15 attribute points in the desert quest.

I think what really happens is that the statue you see is a temporary background for far away shots then when you get close enough the comp redraws the picture with close up graphics which are in the down postion. ANet probably never updated the far away pic in the down position.
You notice a simlar thing with things like arches and large rocks, as you get closer it will redraw in better detail sometimes moving to the side a little bit.
