If you reply to a post by using the Quote option, you cannot right-click and cut-and-paste. You get a different context menu instead.

I tried this on two different computers.

Normal Quick Post and Edits seem to work fine.

The 'Reply' option has the same problem.

Do these posts make sense to those in charge? I can clarify them if necessary.

Normal Quick Post and Edits seem to work fine. I'm not sure I understand the problem. Are you referring to the options such as Undo/Copy/Paste/Select all that appear when you right click? And if so, where are you trying to do this? It seems to be working on this side, but I may not be checking the correct area.

Ok, let me clarify:

If you right-click inside the textbox for a 'Quick Post' or a 'Edit', you will get a menu with Copy/Cut/Paste/Delete options.

However, if you right-click inside the textbox for a 'Reply' or a 'Quote' you do NOT get a menu with Copy/Cut/Paste/Delete options. Instead, you get a useless menu.

This is especially irritating since, often, you NEED to cut-and-paste Replies/Quotes.

Does that make better sense?

Does that make better sense? I think this is what he means

But if you dont have them, use Edit in the browser menu(top left).

I was using IE earlier.

I am posting this from Firefox and it has the same problem for the Reply and Quote options as IE has.

I've seen this on two different computers now. It used to work before the server change. I have done nothing on my end to change things.

EDIT: Gorebrex's screen shot demonstrates what DOESN'T work on my end. Replies and Quotes don't get that little menu. On two different computers, on two different browsers. Used to work.

Does that make better sense? I don't have a problem with this as far as I can see. Stupid question, but have you tried highlighting the text first?

It may also be a browser setting rather than a forum setting.

In the meantime, see if CTRL+X, CTRL+C, and CTRL+V work. If you can get by with those in the meantime we can analyze the situation further without much inconvenience.

Yea, I've tried highlighting the text, and parts of the text. Doesn't help.

CTRL+C/V works, and so does EDIT->CUT/PASTE

I can post screenshots. Heck, I can let you login to my machine(s) via Remote Desktop, if you want.

My parent's computer and my 'work' computer have this issue. I'll test my rig again tonight.

Ok I just tried this on a different forum (Doom9) using vBulletin Version 3.5.3, and the right-click Quote/Reply menu works correctly.

So now I know I'm not crazy. It's specific to Guru's Quote/Reply pages.

Thanks Lasareth for looking into it.

I have uploaded screenshots of the problem.

And BTW, I have now checked this on my primary computer. Same problem.

Here's some screenshots:

The 'edit' picture is working correctly, 'quote' is not.

This must be a setting in your personal preferences. Cut/Copy/Paste works like normal no matter where I try.

I am using Avant Browser btw.

BAH! I had it for a second(had created same effect, cut/paste grayed out) in IE, by goin to Tools--Internet Options--Security--Custom Level Under Scripting, I changed (cant remember now if it was Internet or Local Intranet) Allow Paste via Script to Disable, and that did it. Un fortunately, I was rather excited about it, and went to post reply w/o taking screen. In reply window, however, copy/paste wasnt grayed out anymore, unsure as to why, but I take it to mean its likely some setting being overlooked.

I FIXED IT!

It was a setting all right, but not a browser or computer setting.... It was a Guru User CP option.

I turned off the WYSIWYG Editor (which I had forgotton I had turned on to give it a twirl) and I have my Copy/Cut/Paste menu back again in all places!

So remember: The WYSIWYG Editor is BAD. It screws your right-click menu.

Thanks guys for your help!

Interesting... thanks for tracking that down Carinae (and WYSWIWYG's are sensitive things, I have them in the admin tools and have to turn them off frequently as well and just do straight HTML).
