I came up with this last night, and it did fairly well in RA.

It uses the mesmer's primary attribute to cast elementalist spells very quickly. Nothing new in that, but with Stone Daggers, it's just pure fun.

Maxed out Fast Cast
Maxed out Earth Magic
-1 from either for Inspiration

Items are of course anything that give a chance for faster recovery of earth magic spells.

Mantra of Recall (my only elite, I know it needs something better here)
Stone Daggers (main source of damage)
Kinetic Armor (can be kept up infinitely unless stripped)
Armor of Earth (with Kinetic, you hardly take any damage at all)
Ward Against Melee (More protection for you and group)
Earth Attunement (Self-explanatory)
Channeling (Since you're in the middle of the battle with warriors around you, this helps feeding the machinegun)
Resurrection Signet (Self-explanatory)

But it needs help. A better elite, better self-defense, something that makes this thing little more than an annoying stoner turret. The deal is to go in as a mesmer, and fight like a elementalist on steroids.

Its a good concept, I am not familliar with the mez builds so I am not sure of any advice, definitely a different elite though.

Is it just me, or did they nerf Diversion so it had a 3 second cast. Seems to be around Feb.1/2006 .... If anyone else noticed, or I am an idiot, lemme know.

Adding to the above thread, I wanted to post a great PvP Energy Denial build I came to create. Works well as a shutdown.

14 - Domination [ 10+1 (Mask) +3 Sup Rune ]
14 - Inspiration [ 10+3 Sup Rune ]
11 - Fast Casting [10+1 Minor Rune ]

Energy Surge
Signet Of Humility

Open Skill Slot - I like to use diversion, you can spam it and since you are primarily using signets, there is a lot of room for energy. Shatter Enchantment/Shatter Hex can work well also. Possibly Spirit Shackles for Rangers/Wars. Whatever you prefer. I noticed (well i think) they changed diversion to 3 second cast, which kicks your ass.

I know the build is lacking HP and self defence --- but with a good Boon/Prot Monk, you should be good to go. I more commonly use the build in TA, and it works well. Try it out, and lemme know what you think, any complaints, comments, suggestions....feel free to lemme know.

I believe they did.. nerfed the cast time and the recharge also. Last time u could spam diversion like nothing which people complained that it was overpowered so Anet nerfed it.. -Mesmeric Almost identical to the build I run, this is very effective. Only differences is I prefer 11 + 1 insp rather than 11 + 3 (you've got an error there, you've put 10(11*) + 3 insp).

As for the last slot, mind wrack is devastating to all targets and removes the tactics of switching to -energy gear to evade eBurn. You can easily take on the enemy TA monk and drop him without a chance of survival, unless the enemy team focuses on you.


I've made my stance on fastcast nukers known, I feel they're an abomination against nature (sorry Chris_nin00, if you ever read what I say )... but fastcast wards / earth armors are cool. Problem is, as a main source of damage, stone daggers is about as effective as coughing towards the enemy... 40 damage to unarmored casters, 34~ to monks with elem resisting armor, horribly low versus warriors. Sure, the build is near-invulnerable, but chances are you're the last one left, and how is sitting in a shell of +120 armor and wards really different from running?

Regardless, fastcast-ele builds are always fun to play, and this doesn't look too bad.

The point is to draw all aggression towards yourself, and live throught it as your team kills them. Warriors especially love squishy mesmers, even though their damage range is 0-20, if they even hit. (Armor of Earth + Kinetic Armor + Ward Against Melee + Blind + Hexes + you name it).

The dagger casting is damage-wise almost like, dare I say, an assassin. Constant low damage, cannot be removed (not degeneration), disturbs Reversal of Fortune, unaffected by Protective Spirit... I've seen many monks run. It also adds pressure on the healer, forcing him (unless he's very confident with his abilities, or has brains) to run out of line of sight. Don't forget the panic factor, seeing many hits happening at a very fast rate can be enough to make some players do stupid things.

Agreed, against warriors, the damage is neglible since there is superior absorption and damage reduction armor.

I started seeing Me/E fastcast spammers first back in november but not as often as now. Backfire kinda shuts them down. I played one not to long ago and i thought it kinda sucks... I was on a team with 2 more of these guys from my guild then a monk in TA. Worked great vs. monks and casters but then u try it on a warrior and ur doing 7 dmg.... Yours is the only one im seeing using matra of resolve tho. it might be ok for energy management but still. the dmg output just isnt therehigher armor people. This is the #3 funniest build for ive ever ran before. Try solo EoE bombs its hilarious R/N. =)

Hex Breaker (you could put an interrupt here instead)
Ice Spear (better damage, shorter range)
Frozen Burst (big damage pbaoe and kiting tool)
Ice Prison (helps your warrior assist train to kill, or you to kite)
Armour of Mist (defence boost +33% speed boost in one)
Ward Against Harm {E}
Channeling (Ice Spear + Frozen Burst + Ward are all nice and close...)

Stone Daggers is a terrible skill to base an entire build around. Why? Because it deals like 9 damage to warriors, drains up energy considerably quick, can be easily out-healed, is easy to counter. I always saw Stone Daggers as a quick move for finishing off casters who have low health and need that extra wack. However it ain't a main offensive weapon.

I disagree that a FC ele is a bad idea, BUT you need something more than just a 5e instant recharge spell to spam. If you can get a set of spells (air and possibly fire come to mind) that all have fairly low recharge you can just spam 2 or 3 instead of just the one. You also have to do something about your energy.
