pros and cons

i maybe getting Gw and i want to know the pros and the cons , and please add some additional info on the game

My "pros" may be your "cons" and vice versa. Read the forums and you will get some idea of what the game is about. Sorry I can't give you a better answer, but without knowing you and your preferences it's hard to give you a better answer.

Guild Wars is decidedly different from a lot of other games. It's not a true MMORPG, so you won't see a lot of elements known to be in those games. So you will not be able to partake in raiding parties, but on the other hand you'll also be able to go out sooner. You won't have to stand in line to get a quest reward, as GW will spawn a world just for your party. The streaming technology Anet has allows them to update the game without you having to patch, download a lot and wait a lot.

The game ittself is based around skill and teamplay, not level and wealth. While perfect weapons may be expensive, close to perfect weapons are readily available. And with the level cap being 20, you won't have to worry about having to grind in order to become high level. But once you made it to level 20, the game has just begun! Focused on teamplay, GuildWars has set up a lot of challenging areas for your team to overcome. You will be able to beat these challenges with a balanced and dedicated team, although you may have to get back and tweak your build for a bit. A challenge won is such a great feeling^^

GuildWars has besides a rich PvE component also a PvP side. Here is where the strategy and tactics become highly visible as being the focus of GW. A certain build can overcome one build, but is vulnerable to another. It takes time to become a good player at any aspect of the game, but I feel the game is more than worth it. GuildWars has been named the best value game of 2005. Having spend over 900 hours in GW (considerably less than others, I know), I can only agree with that.

What attracted me to GW was the free online play <a huge cost savings>, unfortunately it has also attracted a bunch of immature kids who are now starting to run rampant around all the towns. Free online play has it's pro's and con's, trick is to get into a really good guild where you don't have to worry about morons. By far my best pc game purchase

i can't think of all the pro's there's that many.

One thing i love is that there is no monthly fees, I also love the different things they do in game for us, like for example around halloween the 'mad king' came and it was a big event, everyone could go to a certain town and perform the emotes (or commands) that he asked and you got prizes and a pumpkin helm they did the same for christmas with a few different things.

I absolutly love this game, I highly recomend it.

The only con is the immaturity. you are going to find a lot of people that will get on your nerves to no end, but in my opinion you just have to let it go and not let it take away from the enjoyment from the game

I bought this game after spending 5 min on my nephews account (never played online b4)

Just a few pros and cons in my opinion.

Pros: Easy to pick up, fun to play, friendly people (mostly).

cons: Immature people, spammers, flamers.

as monty said, what i like you might hate, but in my opinion:

Pros:
No monthly fees
HUGE amount of character builds
Many different landscape types
Relies on skill, not items
Can play how you like (other players, henchies, solo)

Cons:
Story is boring after first time through
Not an MMO; no crafting/houses etc

NOTE

this is not an MMORPG

it does not have a lot of stuff that some people expect.

there is no

logging
mining
fishing
mounts (you teleport after getting there once)
smithcrafting
basketweaving
twiddling your thumbs and toes (maybe havent found it yet)
that sort of stuff

there is also no

ganking
loot stealing
lines for quests
that sort of stuff

you will reach the end of this game and then have to wait for the next chapter.

after chapter 2 (spring 06) chapters are on schedule for 2 per year with each a full size game of new content for your characters. (full price a well)

what i like is that if i want to take a break i can without playing level catch up when i come back.

i leave as a level 20 in a level 20 world and come back as a level 20 in a level 20 world.

NOT a level 20 trying to survive in a level 40 world

Brings back...bad memories, lol.
