Does anyone else think that making a Guild dedicated to helping people is a good idea?

I've asked around ingame with no luck, so I figured I'd see if I could get a response here.

Helping people in PvE?

There's a guild, who's name escapes me that started out as a guild that would take anyone and show them the ropes of PvP. Now they're one of the largest, and I think most respected guilds around. I respect them at least.

I think if you have the patience and knowledge to set up a pvp guild that helps newcomers you'll grow. I'm not sure about PvE, because I don't play much PvE.

Overcoming the obstacles seems to be the fun of a game to me.

There seems to be more pve than pvp lately so it'd probably take off.

XoO is the closest thing I can think of. From what I could gather from their Guild of the Week information, their "grab 8 and go" along with many divisions (4... 5 guilds is it?) I'd say that fits the description closely.

I just thought of a recruiting method. Make a new character and if people help you for no fee inivite them...

Xen of Onslaught it was. Thanks for helping me out. I'm old and the memory is going.

They were very successful and made no bones about being dedicated to helping newcomers learn the ropes of PvP.

A very classy organization from all I can see.

I think that is an excellent idea! I am in a guild now that tries to do that. Unfortunatly we sometimes end up with more members/random people who need help then we have members to help them. But some of the best members and officers we have are people who we picked up in pre-seering and helped out Definitely a lot of fun especially for those people who have kinda ran out of things to do in the game

Helping people is always a great idea^^. The guild I'm in helps everyone as well, bt after a while we hit some problems. We've had people (try to) use us (for example ask for cash, materials and help than leave). Because of that, we had to make a code of conduct, and make rules about helping. Right now we have about 50 members helping eachother when needed. Sometimes we have too many helpers to fit in the team!

So in short, I think it's a great idea. Make sure to read Maltare's tips on starting a guild and make a solid set of rules to make sure you won't be helping everyone who then leave afterwards, and to make sure you have some time to play for yourself as well. I know the feeling of helping people for 6 hours, only to find that you haven't done a single quest for yourself yet.
