Buying -5 energy sword or axe

not sure why you want a - 5 energy weapon, i have a 14% always -5 energy hand axe max dmg ... and i cant remember the req ... its not absurdly high though and the mods are bleh

He wants it because they do the always % damage and he can use Bennitis skill to compensate the lost energy.

Malaise and Wither end if your energy reach 0. So if you have 15 energy left, you figure without an insightful mod, a staff gives +10 energy. With a -5 item, when you take off the staff thats -15 energy therefore your energy reaches 0 and the spells end.

Also if you're getting eburned you can switch weapons when you have low energy, which actually gives you negative energy so they can't burn you anymore . Then you switch back to the staff with +10 and you have energy again.

no, he wants it for when he is getting energy denied by mesmers, he can switch that out, then when they r done denying him, he can switch back to his original weapon and have tons of energy, its quite common when using a pve char in pvp. ;D

You don't have to have a pve character to do that you can put your pve weapon in storage and have your pvp character pick it up.

well, just incase you want more energy decrease, I got a -5 energy necro offhand, it has +armor on it, and as long as you don't use necro stats, you wont get any energy from it.

Edit: Cottage Pie, very interesting, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'd been told that you get half, and tested it with my +6/-5 scroll from the Cities of Ascalon quest and assumed it was true with other offhands as well... Thanks for making me look incompetant. Also though, the CoA scroll gives +hp AND + armor, making it better than most -2 offhands. Perhaps that's why people recommend that one.

Anywho, to stay on topic: I have a req9 Flamberge of Defense (+5) with 14/-5

I use it on my monk, so unless you can find me a chaos axe (any damage any req) with -5 energy, I'd likely not sell it. I would trade evenly for any chaos axe with -5 energy though.

sno, you get 3 energy, not half... it's not hard to test y'know So any -5 offhand yields -2 energy
