Does this count against Ettins? What do giants actually consist of?

I got this info from my guide book and ettins were in a completely different catagorie...ETTINS so I do not know if giantslying works against ettins but for some reason i doubt it

According to Guildwiki, Trolls and Ettins are sub-classes of Giants.

I did some testing on the Giantslaying mod and found that it did NOT modify the damage.

Given the performance of the Giantslaying mod, I highly doubt the Trollslaying mod will actually make a difference.
Still, if someone wishes to spend the money on a Trollslaying mod (expect to pay about 15k for a perfect sword), make your tests and post.

Well it seems that we have not come up with an answer!! I farmed the ettins last night with two swords. One is a sundering sword of fortitude, 10/10 +25 and 15% enchanted customized +20%, and one perfect fire sword of giant slaying 15% enchanted customized. I got the exact same results from both swords. So what mod would work? Does anyone have a troll slaying mod that would part with it? My IGN is Balsk Bushbuff, Ill be on later tonight. Thanks

I heard in another post that the Ogre Slaying Knife thing helps against Ettins.

When 100 blades double criticals on Heal Sig for my warrior, I'm getting 84 x 2. This is uncustomized. When customized, it should hit 200 damage total.
Confirm, you're using troll slaying mod/elemental damage?
Also, report your wild blow rather than something that's a variable. That skill always results in a critical hit. Screenshot would be best.

I have a 20% trollslaying mod, however it's for a staff. Just FYI if anyone is interested
