Did you try the latest Nvidia 81.98 drivers? And are you overclocking in any way?

Yes, I always use the most recent, and I even tried resinstalling the drivers.

No I am not overclocking in any way.

"...and also added 2x512 Corsair XMS memory the other day."
Were there problems like this before adding the memory?

Good question!

Well some basics...first they have to be installed in matched pairs. Second it is good to have same speed (Mhz). Better to have same exact brand and type.

I for one have never trusted Corsair or Kingston memory. I would go with Samsung or Micron any day over those other brands.

Something has to be related to the memory you installed. This is my guess on such limited info. I would run with the 2x512Mb chips and see if there is still a problem. Otherwords pull out the 2x256Mb chips.

They don't have to be matched pairs, matched pairs requirement only applies to DualChannel systems, not all motherboards support it. Yes, most of computers are dualchannel systems these days, but still not all. And even the dualchannel systems can run in single channel if the modules are bad for dualchannel. (This of course applies only to DDR SDRAM based systems, other memory types work in different ways)

They don't have to be same speed modules either, the system will drive all memories installed at same speed, the speed being the maximum speed the slowest module can do.

I've always used Kingston, haven't let me down a single time yet, but guess that's more opinion-based argument.

Yes..I know that...however I am "guessing" with limited info. I have found by mixing different brands (and speeds) you can aquire memory errors. I am "assuming" he has dual channel. As for Kingston...never work well for me. I have try those in the past...always an error down the road. Now I use Dell systems and those definetly do not get along with Dell's. I still would pull out the 2x256Mb chips and use only the new ones...see if the same errors occur.

Yes, I have a DFI NF4 Ultra-D. My memory usually runs in dual channel.

I was using some really nice OCZ 2x256, then I added the Corsair XMS 2x512 a few days ago. The memory should not be running in dual channel anymore. I believe this is some sort of issue with dual monitors, and is specific to Guild Wars.

Any suggestions?

PS. I might be looking to get a 7800GT.

But did the problems start after adding the memory? If that's the case, I'd suggest running Memtest86+ a few rounds to be sure the problem doesn't come from system memory.

Also, try downgrading vidcard drivers, tho I'm not aware of any NVidia driver incompatibilites with GW..

The latest nVidia drivers had been reported to have some issues with Guild Wars displaying things incorrectly. Try downgrading them first, then try pulling the older 256MB sticks.

The 81.98 drivers fixed the visual errors, but the original errors were not like the one Melomania had. I have a 6600gt, and with the drivers from 78.01 to 81.95 i had square textures on the ground.
