very displeased with A-nets stance on farming

I have to say i hate the way Anet deals with farming. In every RPG i have played until now i farmed. In diablo i farmed for soj or shako, in WoW i farmed for gold for horse and whatever. In neverwinter nights even i found ways to kill monsters over and over for that extra little cash.
And i did too in guildwars.

i farmed giants for runes, they were nerfed, but it was reasonable and you could still get a few every so much runs. after AOE nerf i switched to 55 monking. i left the giants cause i had enough runes. i went to 55monking. griffons and trolls. well i liked to farm them. brought in lots of cash for 15plat armour and lots of unlocks for pvp.

but now they drop nothing anymore. well in a few days people will find new farming spots. but i dont like it. sometimes i just want to kill beast brainlessly to get something nice. it has been in every game. heck lots of people from anet have been with blizzard, king of farming games. so why take it out? i seriously dont get it.

the sheer amount of monks in riverside and later the tattoo monks in augury rock should at least indicate i have a large proportion of the community on my side
comment if you agree or don't (however unlikely)

I disagree. PvE is already basically just a bunch of farmers, and you want to make it even more so? Man, what happened to playing a game for the challenge and the fun? I tried going into Sorrows Furnace the other day to do some quests (I have done none of them) and all I saw were 4-man 2-man whatever-man farming groups. A bunch of people farming by themselves does not a fun online, multiplayer game make. Anet would be out of their mind to encourage people to stay by themselves and do their own thing. This game is about getting people together, organized and kicking some ass (particularly in PvP).

I am glad farming is sort of de-emphasized right now (yet people still do it and I don't know why). Otherwise we would just be drowning in DII-style farming bots everywhere and no actual people.

Good God! Not another farming debate.

Please... let it end.

For the record, I don't think Anet is against farming in general (or you wouldn't be able to enter instances solo), just against professional farmers who sell Gold/Items for real money.

That's all I'm going to say.

i thing you guys don't get my point. i really like playing with others, like doing missions (still trying abbadons mouth ), doing the new/old underworld or something like these.

but there are just times i want to do it alone. i can't find a group for somthing like in the morning. i dont like anet taking part of my fun away.

and its not like i want more farming. places like underworld and fissure should not be farmed. but nothing's wrong with griffons, trolls, giants and things like these. at least they have a purpose that way.

and anyways: i don't criticise your way of play, for what i care you just iway or dance naked all day. the only thing i want is some support for playing alone, like there is in almost every other online game i know. you can't expect to have a group 24/7 do you ? even if you look

Why the hell not? Even if you don't have a full 8-man group, you can complement with henchies.

Well you want to know why? Many people complain about GW items being sold on ebay. Those people hate people who buy items off ebay and they hate the people who sell the stuff on ebay. So in order for Anet to stop this they made it hard for people to farm in this game. Less superior runes, less gold drops in UW and etc. But what they don't understand is if this happens then you'll see alot more people selling on ebay. Because now your making it seem like it take more of an effort to get the items you want. And of course people are lazy and they'll find a way to get what they want. 55 monking is still the way to go.

They made farming harder, instead of just policing they eBayers with a strict hand and banning them alltogether. Cheaper solution sure, but not the best.

I do some limited farming when there's nothing else up. Trying to get some gold to buy 15k armor on my chars (useless armor, I know. I like the looks tho.) for now mainly. The fancy stuff is expensive, no way one can afford that without farming atleast a bit.

I totally agree with anni666 and shazbo... People r just lazy to put some effort into the game ( getting gear )... All the online games has faring ( in wow u farm different areas for different lvl item drops ).. here search ebay get all u need...

Nerf one area for few gold coins or just keep running to droks... When will u realize that even if u want to do missions ( especialy last ones ) its just hard to get party to complete them ( id like to see u cap skills in Ironmines of mouldane with hencies only ccc... )

And one more thing while u farm sooner or later u learn how to play, and now i meet so many players in Fow and new UW rushing ahead like they play PVP tank against casters... sometimes u just need to learn playing solo PvE for items... And its much more fun getting utems u want to use by urself instead of buying them... First u need to learn playing alone before u screw whole parties because of u...

There realy isnt much to do now in GW besides PvP.. I had 40 friends in F list and another 30 in guild... 3/4 of them stopped playing because lack of things to do besides PvP ... Afterall after completing 3 times last titan quests ur just not so much into doing missions anymore...

/sigh Maybe Chapter 2 is just coming a bit late...

Sry for my harshnes but in many games i played before we started having fun in farming and trying to improve our gear to the top lvl ( i was great feeling w8 ting for better swords, armors to get along in UW, and w8ting for area to clear or try to find new farm areas, diablo for runes ... )and still items had some value and gold vas usefull...

I just dont like idea same for all... i think there should be difference betwen players puting some effort into the game and those who play 2 hours a week and mostly PvP... PvP should be upgrade for PvE efforts... Well i know there r many players enjoying PvP only but to me PvE comes before PvP... Besides PvP doesnt have realy any impact on your character after u win fame ranks or factions... I say unlock all skills in PvP and all items... i dont mind fighting someone with better gear and skills... I like if game becomes hard earning those skills ( work hard to earn your prize )...

Well i agree that in a way it sucks that they have nerfed a lot of the farming, but then again you still get some drops from the same area. My solution is simply farm more and you will make the same, It doesnt bother me really, afterall we do buy this game to play it. Although i understand some people don't really have the time to play much, but it should take time to earn gold of good things.

Are you suggesting that every single person that owns this game farms? It isn't farming that keeps it alive- it's the desire to increase one's skill, whether in PvP or PvE. New people buying the game is another thing that keeps this game alive.

If farming was the sole reason for GW's survival that would suggest that no one has much fun at all when playing it because let's face it- farming is horribly dull.

Frankly I could do without the farming that goes on in GW. When I first joined the game I wasn't concerned with max damage weapons, reqs, stats or whatever. I still did well, I still had a good time.

Sometime after however the number of people in LA spamming "WTS ___" exponentially increased. I don't know if it was because of one thing or another but the times before that were of a better sort, if you ask me.
