Factions Campaign Restrictions
Eldin
As you all know, a factions campaign button now appears when you try to make a new PvE character. I, however, hope that this is what happens:
You MUST beat the prophecies campaign (hell's, and maybe even the titan quests) on at least ONE character before you can make a new char for Factions, or play Factions on said prophecies char.
I do not want noobs running around, hence the need for the "you must beat Ch 1 first" restriction.
Second, maybe only chars who beat hell's (and possible the titan quests, again) can be played on Factions. It'd be just...weird if you could place a pre-searing char in Cantha.
My main wish however is that you need to have beaten prophecies in order to do ANYTHING relating to factions (except PvP, I guess you can do that no matter what). Because, yes, there are people in rl who will buy Chapter 2 before even TRYING Chapter 1.

Oh for the love of god, will you ppl stop with the noob word please?
Everytime you play a game for the first time you are a noob, so what do you expect?
Gladly this whole beat chapter1 before you play chapter2 will not happen in our lifetime. Noobs build the game from the ground up, you start as a noob and you end as a pro at one point.
I do want noobs running around, as it tells you what not to do, and it gives everyone a fair chance at anything. So, when you see the first noob in Factions, be sure to give them a warm, big welcome, will you?

from what ive heard chapter 2 is going to be standalone (well i read it somewhere) and that it would have its own pre-searing or whatever. I doubt chapter one will be a requirment for it.
I agree that those who are truly 'noobs' shouldnt be running around cantha, but i also think that just beacuse you havent beaten chapter 1 that you aren't a noob. I am on ring of fire on my warrior and am just having trouble finding a good group, two of my characters are stuck at thunderhead keep.
I would be pretty angry if beating chapter one was a requirment.

Actually, they should be running around Cantha, because it might very well be all they've got. What you've heard is true. Factions is standalone. If you are forced to complete Prophecies before moving on to Factions, anyone who buys Factions without coughing up the other $50 basically has a bunch of space on their hard drive which looks up at them and says "screw you, customer!"
PS: And since this is standalone, that means probably no price break of any kind. Do you have any plans to buy a $100 game in the near future?

Chapter 2 is a completely Standalone game I read that on the EBGames website. So noobs will be playing the game. I welcome them all.

Can't we add an forum rule about confusing terms 'newb [or newbie]' with 'noob'. That annoys me even more than the 'funny' spamming of noob word.
People who start in new games are newbies. They try to learn the game, ask questions, do stuff on their own. These newbies turn to noobs at the moment when they start spamming 'HOW DO I ATTACK STUFF??????????' million times, and even when they are told, continue. They refuse to learn anything, want stuff handed to them and are pain in the ass in general.
Stop harassing the newbies. Harass the noobs.

Carry on, nothing to see here. Newb/noob separation grammarwise will prolly just get 'worse' with time until they come synonyms, unfortunately.

People debating the difference between newb and n00b. Wow.
I think you will all find this to be of much greater significance.

fortunately it will be stand alone and you will have no chapter 1 requirements what so ever.
THERE WILL BE NOOBS ALL OVER SO GET YOUE ELITEST A** AND BEGONE
Mandy Memory
Wow what a great marketing idea! Even though Factions will be a stand alone game in which you will not need ch1 you want to force people to buy both!!
Do you work in marketing...perhaps for microsoft?

First of all, banning people from PvE but allowing them to play PvP makes no sense... expecially since the PvE section of Factions is supposed to HELP you play PvP.
Second, even I have not technically "finished" the game (once you cap the Elites you want and get all your Attribute points, why bother?).
I don't want to be forced to do something I shouldn't have to.
I just want to be able to play what I spent my money on, the way I want to play it!
As for people Buying and Playing Factions without playing Prophecies, there's nothing wrong with that. But I suspect if they like Factions (and don't run into jerks like you), they might actually buy and enjoy Prophecies.
Let people do what they want.
Inari
Wow, this went in a whole different direction ^^;
But that paper crane sure is good work!
Well, personally I think the stand-alone idea is the best idea ever - just like playing on the internet, you meet ppl not near you - in a sense that factions players will see all of that prophecies stuff and vice-versa - but wont get to use it... (wierdest analogy ever ^^; sorry)

Man, no need to biatch about this concept. I would find some things limiting however, such as a conversation regarding the Ch1 storyline, and some people go by and say "wtf r u talkin bout".

Unless Chapter 2 came as "Free with chapter 1" this isn't going to work with the whole stand alone games Anet has said each chapter will be a stand alone game not needing the previous games. I don't seem them changing this. There money business model for GW depends on this.
C2 only users will learn how to play Ri/As from the "ground" up where we C1 don't get that option (unless you start a new character in C2 and do there "pre").

Why wouldnt we get that option?
LifeInfusion
No. Make it standalone. That way people won't feel obligated to buy all the chapters.
It's just like watching TV. You shouldn't have to watch every episode to enjoy a show.

Its an installment. Its not a sequel and not really an expansion.
Yes there will be people who do not own Chap1 who will only buy Chap2.
Theres nothing wrong with this. Its gonna be the same with Chap1 people who move on to Chap2 and try out the new classes.
You will be a newbie. Even if you played Chap1.

Think of it like a book. You skip chapter 1 and go straight to chapter 2. It won't make much sense, but you'll get the general idea about halfway through it. It's not like you HAVE to read the first chapter in a book .There's no lock or anything. Worst idea ever READ THE DESCRIPTION OF CHAPTER 2 BEFORE SUGGESTING YOUR ELITST IDEA.
Inari
If both chapters were related story wise, than this would have had some merrit,
but they are not :/
There is no point in making you finish chapter1 so that you can enjoy a new story....

Grimm
It's a standalone game, so requiring people to play Chapter 1 is not going to happen. Do you have to submit proof of having watched a movie to watch its sequel?
If it were an expansion pack, this might make sense, but it's *not*.
