I have seen this auction: 23324
Pop up a number of times on the featured section of the page, that's why it caught my attention.
Now I want to give the seller the benefit of the doubt and assume that he doesn't know that the shield is still readily available in game, and that the bidders are smart enough to know this too.
But as it is, the auction is misleading the rarity of an item. Perhaps there is nothing that can/should be done from the administration side but don't want to see some new person ripped off for the price of what should just be 3 Fetid Carapaces.
Is there a way to report such auctions through the system?
Edit: Corrected sentence.
Way to report "Fraudulent" auctions?

I would like to think that even the most hardcore Guild Wars gamers will accept the fact that there may be areas of the game that they still have not fully explored. Because of that, judging the validity of an offer is particularly difficult (the terrorshield comes to mind ). I'm afraid that we will have to place the responsibility with you, the users. You make the choice to bid on an item or not. Many of the offered items can be obtained elsewhere, so it comes down to your evaluation of the requested price.
This is not to say that we will not act on premeditated fraud. However, in case of doubt, we will have to err on the side of the accused. For now, I have added a warning to the auctions in question, and later today I will put on my running shoes as well as my reading glasses, figure out where the shield came from, and go check on the availability if feasible (read: if it takes a number of quests to get the quest to then run all over the map to then get the shield ... FORGET IT ).
I will report back my findings.
PS: If anybody wishes to speed up my research, post here where the shield can be obtained please.

Ok, I went and checked ... the shield is still there. Thanks for the info, Savio.

Thanks, was mainly using this as an example, and not really wanting to pick on the guy.
I accept the Caveat Emptor system, and it makes sense.
But the real question was about reporting.
Does the system have a "report this auction" availability or prefered method of bringing something to the admin's attention in the case of suspected poor activities?
If not, that is cool.
Thanks!

At this point, the system does not have an integrated function to report fraudulent auctions. Because of that, you will need to rely on PMing or e-mailing me ([email protected]) if you would like to submit a report.
As usual, nothing is final and we continue to look into many potential improvements of the auction system in order to provide you with the best user experience possible.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for.

Idea -
Have a button that says “Report Auction to Admin”
It would then flag the auction to “Under Investigation”
The report could have pre-defined items, such as this is a “current” collector items, or item no longer exists (such as the axe with two same mods), or other that has a custom input text box for other reasons.
The admin then could kill / or allow the auction. If they allow could have status on it that this auction was challenged but after still approved (in case it’s an old collector’s item that is no longer available but people think it is due to anet changes) w/ maybe having a text box by the admin that says why it still ok.

Yeah, I was supposed to implement that like 2 weeks ago, a help and report system. Then we got caught up with the server. I'll start back up on it.
