The Biggest Problem In The Game And How To Solve It

I've been playing GW in a couple of months now and I really like it and it's the best game out on the market now. But something is missing, the PvE is ending to fast.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So here's my idea: The following takes place in the underworld of Cantha. This is a place, maybe third as big as The ascalon area. Here has the war between luxons and kurzicks evolved so they cant be in the cities togheter. But these aren't normal Gw cities. You can't map travel to these and you don't enter a "portal" when you go in to these and when you exit them you don't get your "own copie of the world".

Outside these cities it swarms of charrs, dragons, lvl 40-50 bosses and endless wars between the two factions. Here you can pick up a group(maximum 15) and go and have some great fun. Attack the opposite faction? Go kill some bosses?

The only problem that I see is the lagg. But I can't see that as a really big problem.

This would add SOOO much more fun to the game and some nice End-Game content and it's a mix of PvE and PvP.

Coments?
(This isn't any evolved idea since I don't want to spend 3 hours writing up an idea and then get spammed. But if you like it maybe i'll evolve it in another Thread )

PvE too short... do you mean mission/story, or just the overall contents? But in either case, they are short. Of couse, as other who are wiser than me would said, GW is not suppose to be like any other "endless" MMO. Think of it as a single player RPG, and by that standard it has a decent game time. Afterall, that is where they make the money.. expansions.

But you idea seems intersting.. but need some more detail and rework before it can fit into GW's current game system.

I agree that this game could be longer... I started a monk and beat the game in 17 hours.( found that out by typing /age)

C2 is suppose to have as much content as C1 did doubling the PvE experince, but the real thing is when you have C1, C2, C3, C4, etc. - Think about how long going from C1 to C2 to C3 with one character would be.

I do like adding post game challenges once you beat a chapter and like the idea alot.

If you beat the game in 17 hours then you either rushed or got rushed through a lot of the content. There's 17 hours alone in quests and missions in pre-searing alone. Jumping from mission to mission and rushing the content is not the entire PVE game, to "beat" the game as you call it you have to do every mission/quest, every zone, and capture all your elites and get all your 150 skills, THEN you have beat the game. I have to admit PvE is short, recently redid an ele, in just 200 hours...

1) I've basically UASed my ele
2) capped all elites (obviously)
3) did all missions
4) did all BONUSES (yes yes, including near impossible to get PUG ones like ice caves, THK, and dunes)
5) did *all* quests.. essentially in each town my toon can just step in and wave like Queen Victoria

and on top of that, I got like 15 or so tomb runs.. so in essence 170 or so hours and the game can be utterly exhausted.

If it takes you anywhere near 17 hours to complete every quest and fully explore every area in pre-searing, then you're doing something very, very wrong.

I have been playing Guild Wars for 4 months now and in some ways a bit confused... I have 4 PvE characters all at least past THK now. My Ele and Necro are in the post-game.

When I hear someone saying that PvE is too short, I kinda do the slack-jawwed bobble head imitation... After completing the missions, you have done the Titan Quests, Sorrow's Furnace Quests, and the FoW and UW quests.

If you have done the FoW and UW quests, especially 4 Horsemen, please post some detailed information in another thread on how to beat them...

If not, shouldn't you be working on those quests?

As for 17 hours... I think you may missed something between runs to Beacon's, Droks, Sanctum, and the Desert.

The intention was that you'd finish the PvE part of the game and then move on to PvP. So many people seem to think the game is only PvE and then complain that it's short. If you ignore half the game, then yeah, it might seem that way.

I would not like having to PvP to do anything for PvE. In fact the HoH thing rather bugs me... but that's just me, and in GW - it has a place and has been well done. So I applaud ANet for that. -- Though going from Pre to Post-Searing bores me to tears for at least 5 minutes... but that's only 5 minutes so I'll deal with it.
What I would like to see is longer boss fights. In fact, fewer foes in general, yet tougher - taking a more coordinated team effort to take down. Put some more of those skills to the test. And I'm refering to not just end-game time, but through out the time line. So that might tie in with the higher level mobs you are refering too.

17hrs? If you did All of presearing quests, then gone post and did every quest (including all Titan Quests and Underworld and Fissure quests), mission, and Bonus, Sorrows Furnace, The Complete Underworld and Fissure of Woe in 17hrs?? you had to have cheated in some way by getting friend to do all the work. I find this Highly unlikely. Sure maybe you can get run to ascension, Run for a infuse run and get run to the final boss in 17hrs. But that is NOT FINISHING THE GAME from the PvE point of view. That's just wasting your $50... Cause now the story is ruined for you, and you will not want to do anything more as you THINK you are uber elite now...

that's like paying $20 to go see a movie and just go in for the last 10 mins and credits... then leaving... Gee you saw the end so now I don't need to do anything else...

And your bold face lying if you say that you did EVERYTHING there is to do in PvE in 17Hrs. That's just not possible. Period. Even if you only did every mission straight and nothing else. that leaves only 42 mins per mission according to your time table. And if you had no gold cause this leaves zero time for farming of any kind... then your wearing only the armor you were wearing in ascalon. Cause you would need to farm a little at least for Collector Armor. So as you can see... anyone that knows jack about the game will be able to tell you are so full of it the Canthins are complaining of the smell from across the ocean.

And Pappaya you will prob like the World domination bit in factions... We need to narrow down the real name for this... cause that's a FPS and RTS term being used for the example of the concept... Anyways. Factions will have several Co-op style missions both vs NPC Mobs and Other Factions full of Real player opponents for control of territory... No massive 100 vs 100 siege battles as yet. But it may evolve into that someday. Right now that a little hard to do on an instance based system. so its some time off. But to your credit there is other games out there that offer such things, but to participate in them you have to grind for months to achieve a level highenough to even be considered for such a battle... and all that time shelling out hundreds of dollars for subscriptions... I think I'll stay with the much more consumer friendly Guildwars over that anyday. Personally I would rather never play a game again in my life then have to go the WoW EQ2 path for entertainment... That model is so the way of the past... Guild Wars has Proven that at every turn in its short life.

Ummm no I do not think im "uberly leet" I really hate people who use that language... but anyway. Im only talking about every mission.. not every quest. Sorry for all you perfectionists that think you have to beat every stupid little quest in the game... which I have done on previous characters.
My monk was just to see how long it would take from beginning to end of the storyline.

Where did I say I did everything in 17 hours?? And this is not my first character if you cant figure that out.

Beat the game? Just playing out the final mission is not beating the game. And If you say that the game is too short and not take into account the FACT that you had to play many many days, if not weeks, in order to get to a point that you could afford a Full Run to Droks and Get Droks Armor, and rush through the primary missions (probably skipping the jungle as so many seems to do) and finish the last mission from there. Well yea. On that one character because of the wares and effort of your other characters was able to play the game on the final 3 missions in that time. But complaining that it too short then braging that you "Beat the game" and making it sound like you just did it first time... thats just bogus... Try doing that with a brand new account with nothing... No way that would be the case...

OK I'm not gonna flame ya anymore... Its just that kind of talk just shows that you have no apprication of PvE part of game at all. Which is a good 80% of the content of GuildWars.

Trouble is.. why would anyone want to beat the horsemen? Is there any incentive for the trouble? Or any reward? Or even a lame emote?

Sometimes people do things not for reward, but for the satisfaction of completing a challenge. Personally, I like a good challenge, and the feeling I get after completing it is a feeling I can rarely duplicate.

Wish there were more people like you out there, so I could actually get a group together to do all the interesting PvE stuff.

17 hours...

Geez. I just bought a new account and I'm at 25 hours on my E/Me and I'm only as far as Beacon's Perch.

I think the major difference is quests vs. mission storyline grinding.

I have every single quest done that was available to me all the way through Beacon's Perch.

Doing every single quest available takes ALOT of time and yeah though it may be pointless as you can spend half the time getting through missions back to back and then simply ascending I actually like knowing that I'm completing every objective available to me along the way.

I get some decent storyline out of it and backstory on things.

But this is of course for someone who has played PVP mainly and ignored PVE until recently. PVE vets probably don't want to run all those quests more than once or twice in their GW career so mission grinding and getting runs would be optimal for them.

but still, 17 hours, pfft :P

Look, one, if there was a place like that, you do not understand the gw system. We do not need to pay fees because of how the game is. Each player gets their own copy=less bandwidth=less cost. Lvl 40-50 bosses?!?!?! Are you insane?!?! a decent lvl 31 boss can be a bit of a challenge. But, 40-50 is ludicrous. PVE for factions will be at least DOUBLE the length of the original, and you're COMPLAINING about 17 hours?!?! Ok, let me put this into perspective. The average single player game these days takes about 5-15 hours on a medium difficulty with a relatively experienced player. Now, the average game length of this could be well in excess of 150 hrs. 17 hrs is average for a game. Every mission....pfft. You mean every mission in ascalon? And maybe yak's? You are uninformed. Baseless, don't judge before you know.
