Ok, ive been trying different methods to ascend my ranger for a while.
I looked at the how to kill doppleganger post, but using all spirits doesnt give me enough time to kill him.
Does anyone have anyother methods?

well... i don't really see how u can't kill him... killing ur Doppleganger is the easiest for a Ranger imo
equip 8 spirits... u'll now have 40 sec b4 he'll even shoot an arrow at u... u *should* be able to kill him in that amount of time

well if ur R/N just bring some sacin skills let him kill himself (i dont know much about ranger but im making one) any thing else to deal damage will help really well =)

The "spirit trick" has always worked for me. Just equip any and all spirit skills you have, which each have a cast time of 5 seconds. All you do is attack your Doppelganger while he's busy casting one spirit after another, and he's dead

Pretty easy to beat as a Ranger, just equip skills that increase damage from your bow attacks and fill up your skill bar with useless stuff like beast mastery skills. As soon as you go in, run up to the dopple and stay close and he will switch to his axe while you pound him with dual shot, power shot or whatever, doing far more damage blow for blow than his axe. Shortbows work better for this but any other type will do too.

but keep in mind that us lvl 10s cant do muhc dmg, so although spirit trick will work for a higher lvl, it may not work for me

That's not gonna work with a level 10.

i agree, i did it at lvl 12 brough 5 spirits, poison arrow, and i think mabye a trap i cant remember. the rest was attack skills. he'll start with spirits and then you just keep him poisoned and keep hitting him with attack skills. Just make sure you meet the req of your bow. whats left dump in expertise

skills: troll ungent, distracting shot, rest spirits (just not fertile season)
while hes casting a spirits do damage - interupt when he uses troll ungent - cast a spirit so that he interupts you and then use troll ungent - repeat ...
This can take a while and if he gets troll ungent off you're pretty much done for, but it should solve the problem of not staying alive long enough to kill him ... I may have brought determined shot but you pretty much get the idea.

but i will try True, they don't do a ton. I ascended my Ranger/Mesmer at level 11, using the spirit trick and 2-3 attack skills, and rather quickly too. So I'm positive a level 10 can do it, just keep trying, you'll get it.

I tried the backfire/empathy trick it doesnt work his attacks do enough to take you out w/o dieing with empathy on and i cant get enough spirits to do the spirit trick bc four or so are at southern shiverpeaks(grotto copper rankor and droks)

Just a word of warning. I reccomend leveling to 16 and 3/4 as this will be much easier from leveling from 16 to 20. What I mean is, you don't automatically hit 20 on accension. You get 50k exp and that is it. If you aren't 16 and 3/4 you won't auto 20 you will fall short and that can be very annoying for getting groups in droknars and beyond.

I just have a question, right now I am on my 6th character with my ranger and I really dont want to do the desert missions anymore. How did you beat the missions to get to Ascension?

i think that you wont be able to kill him to get acsede becuse you dont do lots of dma so beter off waiting for lvl 18 or 17

people run elona mission + bonus for 1k but i never seen any1 running dunes or thirsty as you cant do these missions on your own you need probaby 3 GOOD players but more than likely the whole 6 man party to do these 2 missions.
