Tired of bugged quests

Doing a quest involving to find someone is about 50% bugged: either the person is death by the time you come, or he/she is standing at a spot where you cant come, or he/she does not even have the ! above the head and gives some silly conversation which you can only close by "nothing, I'm on my way" or something like that.
It takes LOTS of time to get to the right spot and than halve of the time there's no quest to complete. Since doing quests is almost the only way to get experience Arenanet should really re-design these quests to make them work well!!!

You may play missions meanwhile. With the bonus objectives they give at least 2000 XP.

Thats right. Only those quests would be great for some in between soloing, if only they worked well

Come one, please don't just rant, give some specific information too if you wan't the quests to be fixed.
At least the name of the quest and the name of the missing/dead/non-exclamated NPC.

I have noticed this as well sometimes if you walk to the spot where the creature was supposed to be it will update the quest. The update seems to be tied to a spot on the map and not the killing of the creature. Maybe it will help. I had a problem with the wayward monk Cyr would stop as we entered the portal and I failed to notice. So by the time that I would find Brother M she was no where to be found to complete the task. I had to go back and make sure that she was following the party to Bro M.

For the class changing quests you have to kill the boss mob and the surrounding mobs that it's linked with. Did a couple runs at the god-awful ranger one before finishing it.

That's funny, I just did the quest a few minutes ago and nothing like that happened...

Fwiw, I'd tried on more than one occasion to complete the Domination Magic quest in pre-searing with another person who had the same quest, and every single time it would not update after completion, and we'd have to leave the area and try again. We'd walk over the green spot on the map, kill every single skale in a ten mile radius, limit ourselves to using only DM spells and nothing else... and nada. Happened with two different people.

Yet everytime I've done the quest alone, it was over in like five minutes.

Yeah; you kill one scale and it's over. Hehe.

im sorry to hear about all the problems. I for one have not had a single problem with any mission or quest yet. I'm at Lions Arch now and I have done all the quest and missions up to this point.

About the secondary profession quests in the Crystal Desert that require you to kill a certain creature: you don't just have to kill the boss, you have to kill the surrounding mob too. I first noticed this in the Warrior quest, where I zoned out immediately after killing the boss, only to find that the quest was not complete. I later almost did the same for the Ranger quest, but thought to check before I zoned out. I'm glad I did.

So yeah, could be bugged or bad wording.

Another quest I had a problem with was the one I got at Ember Light Camp. When I talked to the Captain and was taken to the Ring of Fire, it said nothing about talking to Fogard Axemighty, which was required to get the reward. Instead I was left with a quest with all the parts struck through. That confused me a lot, and I abandoned and re-did that quest at least three times before noticing that the exclamation mark above Fogard's head was only there when I had done the quest. I submitted a bug report for that one.

Well its happening about 50% of those quests, so mentioning them all would be a neverending story, but here's a few:
-Althea's ghost: the first time the ghost was standing on a spot on the ruins that could not be accessed by my party. I could come close, even stand in front of her, but than there was small edge of dark ground between us and I could not move on. I could not talk to her.
-Wayward monk: part 3, find Mhenlo. I found him but he had no ! above his head and upon talking he only gave a respond option like 'nothing I"m on my way'. No clue or whatever and no quest end.
-Minaar's trouble: The trouble is that Minaar Stonesledge is dead when I find him. Nothing to do, no clue given.
-Something simular happened the first time I did a quest in Pike Square (forgot the name of the quest). It was about finding someone with hes pet. I found the pet hissing at me, and a dead body of the one I was supposed to find. No reward, no mission end, no clue. The second time the guy was alive and I got the mission reward.
-I think the same happened with Shiverpeak Stragglers. If I recall well, the first person was dead and I dropped the mission.

...And so on. It happens time after time. Most annoying is that the mission briefing does no tell it when a misison becomes impossible to finish, e.g. because the one you should find allready died.

There is a TYPO with this quest, not a bug.

You have to kill the three griffins other than the boss. How do you know which ones? They ALWAYS run back to the point on the map for the quests: The others just patrol.

Wayward monk - He won't talk to you unless you bring cynn, she'll stop following you at the area transition and you have to talk to her to start her following again. Not bugged as far as I can tell

Shiverpeak Stragglers - They do die sometimes, but they only ever seem to spawn/start fighting when you get in close proximity to them, just make sure you run to their aid along the last bit. Might not be intended, but it's not a quest breaking bug, just adds a lil extra challenge. Besides it's fun running to their aid

Althea's ghost - Not had it, possible bug, have noticed she's not always in same spot

Minar - Same as straglers, but found he was even less prone to it.

Generally, the ones with finding and leading a friendly NPC can cause trouble 'cos they still spawn/fight when there's still 1 or 2 groups of enemies between you and them, and so are left vulnerable unless you rush the last bit. Also had pleanty of problems with quest conflicts with other real players in the party, those -could- do with a little tidying up.

Just wanted to chime in that the Althea's ghost spawning in an unreachable location has occured to me once, as well - and yes, I was pretty PO'd at the time.

Edit - this happened on another minor quest, as well, but I can't remember which one. But only those 2 times, for me, so far.

It hurts when you spend all that time towards a certain goal only to no avail. I tried initiating the bonus mission at frost gate where I need to kill the ice drake... several times I tried, blowing up that wall of snow... it did not work :\. I just kept running into an invisible (and yes I did try it with multiple people)..

You could always petition for in-game support.

Just a note on this one - you have to blow up the wooden support, not the snow - so drop the exploding barrel on the right hand side & all should be well.

I couldn't finish a quest last night because the NPC quest giver had apparently been killed by roaming monsters. I saw her fighting in the distance, but by the time I got there, she was no where to be found even though I was standing on the "star". I had to head back to town then retrace my steps with a band of henchmen at my side just so I could talk to her to complete my quest.

Minorly annoying but not game breaking. At the very least, quest critical NPCs like that should be invincible.

any tips for the ranger quest? been at it a few hours now.. i always just get completely over run even when i try to take out a few at a time and maybe manage to kill off half the storm riders in the area before i get 60DP and can barely take on 2 at a time
