What's the Best Way to get to TOA?
MasterThrawn
I tried this last night just using henchies, leaving from Beatletun, and thought everything was going great (although it is A LOT farther than it looks like it should be on the map) until I came to the Cursed Lands. I'm a level 19 N/E and unfortunately undead are not easy for me to do a lot of damage too... I died and died and died. A lot of wasted time. I don't want to look for a runner as I think that's lame, but it's hard fiding a party to do it too.... Is there something I'm missing here

I don't actually think you can get there from beetletun (could be wrong).
Leave from Bergen Hot Springs, and hang a left.

1. Buy/Find a Run
2. Form a party, say your fighting your way through to TOA

Leaving from beetleton gives you lvl 12 henchies. even tho you still gotta fight all the way round past Bergen Hot Springs (howcome no towel vendor for the springs??)
I tried this and first time sucked died loads (60%DP) i was last one alive and died right on the doorstep.
Second time was a breeze hardly any bad guys (lucky spawn??)
My advice is buy a candy cane or 2 to use when you get to 60DP and just keep going coz the bad guys don't resapwn once you cleared an area.

I have never got to ToA without max dp....those damned clerics! A pain in the arse but worth it if you fancy doing UW or FoW

I always go from Bergen Hot Springs. Here's an account of my route, I'm doing this from memory so it may not be exact and missing bits here and there, but it'll give you an idea.
Once you get out of Hot Spring, go straight ahead between a group of rangers on your left and right. Be careful of the lone necro horseman. Once pass them, at the bottom of the uphill, take a left and hug the hill to the right to avoid aggro-ing the undead in the open space. There will be the odd grasping ghouls and warlock to deal with. After a little distance, there'll be a clearing in the middle open space, cut across to the other side - again avoiding aggro on either side. From here, hug the wall to your left. Ahead of you, you will have to go down a little hill. But there will be 5 rangers to fight, you can't avoid them. Keep the henchies under control as they can easily aggro some mesmers in a ravine behind the rangers.
Once down the hill, you should be able to sneak pass a roaming patrol and go through a gap to the left. Hug the hill wall to the right and run for the portal.
In the new zone, there are rangers in front of you. To the right there is a necro horseman and warlocks. Go this way, kill them and follow the path. You'll soon reach edge/cliff - below will be some undead. Let them get into your aggro circle and let them come to you. Kill them. Follow the path down, You may have to fight a cleric, ghouls and mesmers here, and round to the right. Once up the little hill, go left and continue along until it bears to the right. Maybe smoke phantoms here. There should be a portal ahead with grasping ghouls popping up, you should be able to just run for it.
New zone, follow the path until you reach a T-junction. There is usually a cleric roaming the poison swamp, if not close to aggro circle, ignore it. There are usually two roaming patrols here. 2 necro horsemen and 2 hellhounds in each group. Kill one group at a time, take the hellhounds first. It'll be wise to pull them back to the res shrine for the fight, so you don't get jumped by the other group. When one horseman goes down then the other always raise bone fiends. Once both group have been taken care of, go left and over the wooden bridges. Pass the second one, there is usually a damned cleric closeby and smoke phantoms. Pull them back and kill them, don't stay here too long as there is a patrol of 2 horsemen and 2 hellhound. I find this the hardest part of the journey. Once these have been taken care of, continue along the path until you reach a poison swamp ahead of you, there's usually a group of horsemen and hellhound, avoid them bear right and then a left. Hug the wall on the right.
Go stright on, there'll be smoke phantoms and cleric. Kill them and contine onwards. When you see bog skales then ToA is nearby, towards the right of you.
I've been on this journey afew times now with different characters, and each time just one or two deaths.
Leave your IGN if you still need help and I'll try and get you there if I'm not busy.

I make the run from Hot Springs with my ranger pretty often - it's a cinch.

I go from Druids Overlook via Majesties Rest and Rotscale. I just like going that way. Kind of a Blair Witch vibe in places.

I have actually found it exceptionally easy to run to ToA from Fishermens Haven. Its a little longer, and you of course have to wait until you get to Fishermens Haven, but I dont think I have ever died on my run to ToA leaving from there.

I always go from "The Wilds" when I want to get to ToA. This way you don't have to fight through hoarde's of undead - just hoarde's of Fire Imp's instead.
Leave from The Wilds and take the north route to go to Majesty's Rest then go south around the lake (and past Rotscale).. you'll have to fight 1 or 2 small group's of undead here.. but they are easy to get past. This get's you into Talmark Wilderness.. here you just run east as you go.. you'll fight lots of Fire Imp's, some Shadow undead.. but nothing too nasty... this leads to the warp into The Black Curtain. Just follow the road, kill the reed stalkers (or run past them) and your there.. as ToA is right behind the reed stalkers.
I just personally find going that way to be much easier than going from Hot Springs or Beetletun and through Cursed Lands. I've never died going my way..

The "best" way is to map there.
I run from bergen hotsprings, thru the cursed lands, then to TOA. I don't bother killing anything, since as a ranger it's just easier for me to use a running build. I think I've died 1 time out of about 100 trys in the last 6 months, with that due to the change in spawns back in like july/august. I love to take people with me, to see if they can make it too the gates between zones, or if they get killed. I dont run for cash usually , but one guy tipped me 3k, so it can be a sweet run. More often than not you can expect nothing from tips, but it can be a nice addition when running guildies.
dodge/storm chaser/escape with troll unguent is what i use 90% of the time.
If you sit in bergen hot springs for any length of time you will easily find a runner to toa.
