There is a known issue with NVidia GeForce FX video cards (GPUs) and driver version 61.77 when the user has changed "Image Settings" to "High performance". Some of the problems include missing terrain. The solution is to change your video settings to "High quality". To do this, follow these instructions: On Windows XP:
Open Display Properties control panel
Click Settings tab
Click Advanced button
Click GeForce "Version" tab
Select Performance and Quality Settings in left window
In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings
Move the slider to the right to "High quality"
The video cards/GPUs that are affected by this problem are:
GeForce FX 5200
GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
GeForce FX 5500
GeForce FX 5700
GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
GeForce FX 5700LE
GeForce FX 5900
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
GeForce FX 5900 XT
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
GeForce PCX 5300
GeForce PCX 5750
GeForce PCX 5900

I had this problem too, but on my older videocard. I think the problem lies in that your CPU has calculated that there is a player there, (yes, those cubes are other players) but your videocard can't render everything in the town/outpost so some characters are left as white cubes. It's possible that Loviatar's solution will work for you, but my old one isn't on that list. I couldn't get rid of the cubes until I upgraded my graphics card.
Side note: My old videocard was put into another computer after mine, and died soon after that. It's possible it was on its way out anyways, and was causing problems with rendering because of that.

I had that problem, and for me it was bad ram.

It could also be that your computer has missed downloading some of the textures, in which case you would not see the renders (if you dont have that). BUt the video card thing sounds more likely, and besides, it looks kinda cool too

Is the thread title a ATHF reference? If so, nice one.

+1, you can show off about it to your friends, say that you "hacked" the game and spawned loads of cubes of light :P
