"Battery" Just refers to you bringing Blood Is Power (or to a lesser degree, BLood Ritual) - Inorder to keep the monks' energy flowing.

The rest fo your build can be w/e, most bring buffing stuff and conserve your health and energy. Well of Blood is a good idea, as is Blood Renewel for yourself. Another idea is to keep Life Siphon on as many enemies as you can.

Also remember that having a battery can be a useful skill for other classes besides monk ... lets not forget minioners and ele's.

Former is right thought about it usually being a monk. Be careful about the monk you choose, as most competent monks don't need battery support to be effective.

then again, being a bonder is alot easier if you have a necro giving you a boost every so often, helps alot

There's various levels of battery. At the bottom level it simply means that you're taking blood ritual with some level of blood magic and giving it to the monk everynow and then.

At mid level you're taking blood is power and another set of skills, and you'll chuck the BiP at the monk when they need it. In my experience you tend to work best at this doing healing as well as the battery. You get the self heal you need for the sacrifice, and you are more attuned to the stresses the monk is under if you're doing the same thing as they are.

At the most intense level of running a battery your role is dedicated to keeping the parties energy levels high the whole time. That means BiP is on them as much as possible. I really wouldn't recommend running this outside of guild groups - most people can't burn through that much energy effectively unless they are expecting it and so you'll be wasting your effort. The whole premise of a dedicated battery is you directly contribute nothing to the party, you just amplify the effects of everyone else.

To run this at it's most efficient you'll want one Hale staff of fortitude, the -50 cesta from cities of ascalon and a one handed weapon of enchanting (HoD sword is the best but expensive). ADditionally you'll want two sets of armour, I use pants but it doesn't matter. On one you'll want a superior rune of blood, the other you'll want a superior vigor (or a major if you can't afford it).

The idea is when you sacrifice you have minimal max health. The staff -> rod/cesta will take off 110 health (losing sixty from turning off the staff, losing another fifty from the cesta). The armour will take off 125 (losing 50 from turning off the superior vigor, 75 from the superior blood). Thus you can dynamically alter your health by ~230. When you are sacrificing 33% that's 78 damage that you aren't sacrificing and 78 that you don't have to heal out later.

When you aren't sacrificing you want to have your max health gear on. Thus you can sit up at about 500 health when not sacrificing, and drop your health significantly for the sac. As soon as you sac swap it back. Yes it gets intense but it's much easier than healing the damage. Your other skills will be self heals, I tend to rely on orison, healing touch and healing breeze. Some people like blood renewal but chucking another big sacrifice into the mix just complicates it to me. Additionally it's very vulnerable to a shatter - if it gets shattered straight out of the cast you've just sacrificed 33% health and then got a high damage set off the shatter and you're very vulnerable.

To the Guy above me - Blood Renewel is mostly used at your mid level as you described it.

You'll Tap Blood Renewel, wait ~7-8 seconds, and put BiP to the person, and then instantly after that get a spike heal that almost nearly heals you. Put Blood renewel back on, and continue the cycle (using a direct self heal when needed), keeping a constant BiP on 1 person, while still having that downtime while Blood Renewel is on to attack/use spells/etc to help the team.

I agree it works well there, as you say, you get the timing right and it's basically not a sac spell.

when i play battery i stick with N/Me, when they ask for nrg, i use blood renewal, then use BiP twice, then im back to full life after blood renewal is done, then i use mesmer interupts or inspiration magic depending on where i am. dont just limit yourself to being abattery, help the team as a whole

If going N/E, or at least before the AoE update, I would bring Well of Blood, Fire Storm and Meteor Shower to help the party along with BiP.

Now as N/Me, I'm running Inspiration and have Leech Signet and Mantra of Resolve. This was in a Barrage/Pet group in Tombs though, in which I was spamming BiP on the one Monk. Very intense compared to what a Battery may usually end up doing.

When I first started running around as a Battery, I used Well of Power and Well of Blood, spamming them. Nuking in the wells. And then carried Blood Ritual for when I didn't have bodies. It worked, but I think BiP works quite a bit better than that build did.

I think Well of Power works best for areas with a high body count, as it gives energy regen to a large number of allies. BiP is still probably best in most cases as it causes sooo much delicious regen.
