I think Best Buy wants to sell both games.

It's been said by A-net folks (Gaile Gray, etc.) many times that Factions will able to be played as a stand alone game or as an "expansion" to the original.

As a stand-alone, players wont have access to the areas of Chapter 1. BUT, Gaile did hint once that there may be a mission or quest(s) that takes you to LA.

if we preorder online...will we get the box? and will we get the special preorder weapons that we got from the box???? as well as keys to beta events and such??

EB Games has it for pre-order at some of their stores too, not sure about online pre-order. But I reserved a copy the day before yesterday.

I won't be doing any pre orders till they release info on the times. I got stuck with a crappy Warpick and would have cost me $5 to cancel the order.

Give us the info first or I'll wait and get the key some other way for specific items.

I assume you mean won't, but in any case, I agree. Not until the details on the pre-order packages are released will I be getting one, and until then, these topics are kind of pointless.
You can pre-order games that are slated for release months to more than a year in advance through some companies, and they'll just keep feeding you new release dates. That's nothing new at all.

Gonna hold out on this for a little...seems too early for my taste.

Yes. Although the final number of characters slots has not yet been determined, you will have more than four slots if you purchase Guild Wars and Guild Wars Factions.

No one really knows the price. To be honest I wouldn't pre-order until an offical press release on relase times. The New Guildwars Factions FAQ specifically says that they have not issued an offical price or release date yet. Places you are pre-ordering from ie BestBuy and Eb might very well have the wrong price, and you might get ganked. Imo its better to wait.

I'm sorry, but why pre-order? Can't you just buy it online from the playNC.com site on the day of release? No wait... just download and play. That's what I did for Guild Wars.
