Guys, some of you seem confused. This is not a Pre-order version of the game.
I.e, you will not get any of the special pre-order goodies with it.
Also, both bestbuy and ebgames suck (even i know that, and im english) they would be the last place that i would buy anything from online.
This is just bestybuy/ebgames attempt to make some cash. They have no clue when it will be released, and they are NOT the proper collector/pre-order editions of the game.

me im going into the shop and pre-ordering it there at least there i can actually speak to a REAL person and ask questions with out *plz wait till we put you on hold*
im getting it from GAME store i know they know wat there talking about caus iv bought nearly all my games from there. i can ask anything and as long as they have the info they will tell me.
i want the pre order edition so i can get the new items for it, BUT if it requires me to download the game from a website Anet can go jump.
i want a game i can hold and know that if something goes wrong i can reinstall from disk

Where do people get this idea that you have to download the game if you want the pre-order set?
You can buy the pre-order, when its available, shops will display it as 'Guild Wars: Factions Pre-order Edition'
The download is just an option if people dont want to buy it from a store..

- We have not manufactured the actual pre-order box. Therefore, no store would have it in stock. Many retailers are happy to accept your pre-order, but they will not be able to provide the pre-order package yet. Retailer's general policy, and perhaps even the individual store's policy, will determine whether you would be given the pre-order box if you pre-ordered before the box was available.
- There is no official confirmed pricing for Guild Wars Factions.
- There is no official list of contents for Guild Wars Factions, at least as far as I know. I have an email out to check on different regions, and I'll let you know about that. I can see several things that I believe to be distinctly inaccurate in the listing above, but again, I will let you know.
- You decidedly do not need to have Guild Wars to play Guild Wars Factions.
- There are not two versions of the game.
- We will have official information about the Guild Wars Factions Pre-Order very soon.

/Mouse mat.---------Sounds nice to have one of these. hope this is real.
/1 extra character slot code.-------again nothing announced. but if you go stand-alone does that mean you can still get a 5th slot then? w/o ch.1. ( I really hope it's at least 2 extra.

GAILE said CE/REG will be out at same time.i really doubt the extra slot as that would be a real advantage just for the ones who could afford it.
remember way back they said that the CE would have nice goodies but cosmetic only . (an extra slot is way more than cosmetic)

hrm, if this site is true, which it may not be, I would have to be the CE for the extra character slot. Smooth move on Anet's part. Although, I finally feel vindicated to buy a CE, usually the cloth maps doesn't entice me.

Hopefully, ANet'll make an official announcement about the contents soon. And I hope the extra char slot is on top of the extra char slot for the regular Factions box...that would make a lot of people angry if you had to buy the CE to get any extra slots.

Gaile Gray has stated that there will be at least 1 extra slot for Factions. It's safe to assume that means both the SE and CE. According to this CE info, it would come with an extra slot, on top of the unannounced slot(s) coming with the SE. I hope that's true, as I planned on buying the CE, anyways
Also, if this is true, ANet will likely be entering the business of selling extra character slot keys for existing accounts. It sure beats buying a new account and losing your unlocks. Kudos to ANet (and the numerous people who suggested that)

Now that I think about it and read the previous posts, The extra character slot is probably just the one you get with the regular edition. ugh, who knows. This is why I don't usually post. We'll just have to wait and see.

So we get only 1 extra character slot, I have 4 characters now, I can delete one of them (pvp), but then when I ofcourse create a new character with each new class, I wont have any slot left, what if I dont attach the expansion to my old guildwars, how many slots will I have, if more then 1, I call it unfair.

Until ANet announces it, treat any of these sorts of ads as the companies best guess based upon an incredibly limited amount of information.

It the ad is true, CE C2 Only users where suppose to only have 4 slots (not the 5 slots if you get both games). This does sound like a special account key to add one more on top what your suppose to get. Just like the skill unlock pack that gives you faction points from the SE version of Chapter 1.

An example of these companies getting it wrong is when Best Buy said that you had to buy Prophecies (chapter 1) in order for Factions to work! (you don't - so no need to discuss it

people i know what your saying but i have used this site on many occasions for differnt games and they normally are right on what features are inclueded. but hey im only trying to help. and i want that mouse mat to lol

this is the 2nd or 3rd official announcement and since they have a release date that even ANET doesnt know yet.......
secondly that extra slot for paying the CE price will not happen.
the CE will offer nice goodies like devine aura but not something that gives a real ingame advantage like an extra slot

* Sigh * I remeber when the forums were buzzing with the news of the "big release" when this game first came out. I got the pre-order from ....um...EBgames. People were posting the "release date" that was given from EB. Heck they even sent out e-mails. The dates posted were wrong. A-net will announce when they are ready. Lets not have a replay of last time. I am sure the Mods and Admins would appreciate it.
It will save them from having to lock threads and delete them.

If standard doesn't have extra slots, I'm getting collector's. Standard guild wars is missing divine aura, headset, and the collector's book only. My friend had bought a collector's edition and didnt want it after playing WoW (for some reason, but he has money and time so w/e). SO basically I got free art book and soundtrack.

I'd just like to encourage you all to not get carried away analysing the information some sites have posted about the CE. Wait until we officially announce the contents. When we do, we'll make sure to include full details so that misinterpretation of what is being offered can be avoided.

Yep, pretty much. As with ch1, you only really need the key, everything else can be streamed to you. Once you have the factions key in your account, the GW servers know your allowed to get factions information and they will begin sending it to you.
