[BRA] Giveaway Event

Alright everyone, the time has come for BRA to host yet another totally BADICAL giveaway event! It seems as if not much has been happening, nor will be happening until the finals for the GWWC happen at the end of this month. What better way to pass the time by having a great giveaway. Here is some information to inform everyone about the event:

Who:
The event will be hosted by Black Rose Assassins [BRA]

What:
The event is a few of us BRA members who will host various trivia and mini games with prizes to the winners. We will also have everyone that is participating in the event do some wacky thing like a gigantic synchronized emote and give a prize to everyone that participated, so no one gets left out and gets no items.

Where:
The event will take place in Lion's Arch, International district 1.

When:
The event will take place on Thursday February 9th, 2006, starting at 6:00 PM PST (9:00 PM EST)

Why:
We do this to bring a sense of community to the players of Guild Wars, and show everyone that people can have fun and relax to enjoy this great game. It is a pretty similar feeling to the end of the beta weekends, with everyone having an awesome time and joking around.


We have hosted these events a few times before, and have had a better and better turnout each time. It would be nice to exceed the turnout from last time, and fill out the entire district with BRA giveaway attendees :-) We have many many items to give away now, and they are mostly good too. Lots of gold items, gold weapons, a couple green items even. Please don't come the event expecting something in particular though, just know that you will get something, and be able to have a great time hanging out with other people who also enjoy this game and want to have a fun time.

In order to get a really big turnout, I'd like to encourage everyone who reads this to tell your friends/guild about this event, and get the word out to as many people as you can. The more people that we get at this event, the better it will end up being. If you have any questions, feel free to post them and I'll try to answer them as soon as I can.

I could donate some items if you want. They have been sitting in my storage for a long time anyway.

Well, unfortunately we will all pretty much be having full inventories of stuff to give away, so if you would like to join in, you could give away some stuff too. You can just see what we do to give away the items and do the same. Some things that we will be doing are trivia questions, simon says, rock-paper-scissors, pass the dye remover, and catch the BRA.

Well, you can come...it would just be 2:00 AM GMT on Friday morning. So, if you are awake at that time, feel free to hop on and have an awesome time.

Just so everyone gets our stance on this, if anyone comes and gives away their items, we're all for it. We don't want this to be exclusively associated with the BRA guild, we just want to help get the spark started for everyone to have a fun time. So, if you have some extra stuff you want to get rid of, but don't want to just sell it to the merchant, stop by and give it away!

I would also like to add that if the event does fill up the entire district of Lion's Arch ID1, we will have some of us move to ID2 and host another giveaway in there too, so that no one will miss out.

Hugo's right - if you want to give away items as well - than by all means do so. If for some particular reason you don't want to give the items away yourself via games and trivia but still want to contribute, than I'm sure a BRA member will be willing to pass them out for ya (just don't be upset if you win your item back in a game =).

Still think we should use the bearpelts for the hotpotato and we most defintely have to add the tin solider races this time around. Looking forward to another event!

I recall your guild doing something very similar to this.. about 2 months after GW release(not sure at all).. or was it BWE..? meh.
I'll be there.. I hope I can get some items for my recently ascended ranger..

I compiled a list of things we will be doing in class today and came up with these:

- Trivia
- Simon Says (with emotes)
- The Wave (Have everyone at the event make a huge line, and everyone does the /jump as I run past them)
- Tag (Open up a trade window with some BRA members running around trying to evade everyone)
- Hot Potato (Everyone pass around the bear pelt like hot potato, whoever is holding the pelt when I finally hit over 90 on a /roll 100 is out
- Tin Soldier race (Hard to explain, click your mouse near your feet and you will move without moving your legs, now click that many times and you will be moving like a tin soldier without moving any legs...it's a race of doing that. We catch you moving your legs and you're out)
- Rock Paper Scissors
- Roll the dice (Whoever gets the highest roll wins a prize)

The hot potato and roll the dice will be done in groups of 6 that go outside in an EA with a BRA member, since you cannot /roll in town.


I've also PMed Gaile with an absurd request that will most likely not happen...but if it does happen it will make the event about 6.82 million times cooler.

I'd like a size 32B with a clasp in the front, if you have any left.

Actually we've done this several times now (all post BWE - we were too busy enjoying those weekends as well =) but this is the longest span we've gone without having an event (we don't PvE much at all now after completing the content a bajillion times therefore we don't pick up the items like we use to.).

Alright, so the event is a little over 24 hours away. To anyone that wanted to donate any items as little or big they may be, I have decided to just get them in-game before the event starts. Some of you may not feel comfortable giving them away during the event and whatnot, so I'll just offload some of my extra stuff on my poor defenseless guildies :-D

I will be on most of the night tonight from about 10:00 PM PST to 2 AM PST and then once again about an hour and a half before the event starts tomorrow. (so around 4:30 PM PST) You can contact me in-game under the name Hugo The Horrible, and I will try to meet up with you and get your items that you wish to donate.

For those who decide to donate some items, I will make sure to keep a list and post it up on here along with the event results post, so you will be recognized in the post.

Oh, I'd also like to make sure everyone turns every chat channel on so that you can see what will be said in trade channel as well as the all channel. I figured it would be a lot easier if everyone keeps the trade channel clear for just BRA members to use, that way it will be easier to spot what we say.

The even was alot of fun thank you guys for hosting it =0).

Wow, ok...so much to sa about the event!

First of all, it started out with me having my items in the wrong inventories right before the event, so I spent a good half hour reorganizing my inventory. I turned out to be a little late for the start of the event (like 2 minutes or something!) meanwhile my guildies were in the district, getting all the crowd ready. While this was happening, my lovely guildie decided to do a "PST spike" on me >.< I didn't know that he did that, and at ocne I got about 40-50 whispers. My little new whisper bell thing was going insane. Even when I was switching characters I was getting that little bell, lol.

So, I finally arrive at the district, and we kickoff the event with a keynote speech from me. I introduce all of the guildies that were hosting the event and we went into some Guild Wars trivia. After a few questions we decided to play a couple rounds of tag, where people had to catch some BRA members running around and open a trade window with them to get a prize.

Once we gave away a few items that way, we decided to try out an entirely new activity called Tin Soldier Race. This involved moving around by clicking at your character's feet so they move but don't move their legs. You just keep clicking over and over and you will move like a tin soldier. Anyways, we set everyone up to form the walls of the race track, and had people line up in groups at the starting line. We would count down from 3 to start the race, and anyone that was actually doing it without moving their legs got a prize.

After a few rounds of that, we wanted to get everyone to try a huge activity of replicating "The Wave" that you see at sports games. So everyone would /jump as the bunch of BRA members ran past them all in a line. Well, halfways through getting the line setup, Gaile Gray showed up in the district. Needless to say, everything kind of fell apart. As Gaile was doing her thing, people seemed to migrate over to her, and we lost about half our people.

We then decided to conclude the event a bit early and do some syched emotes and give away the rest of our items.

Then when I switched characters for more items, I couldn't get back into ID1, so we brought some of the giveaway to ID2, and gave away the rest of our items. Oh, and that whole new build of Guild Wars that was released during the end too...

So, other than the technical difficulties and whatnot, we still had a great time. Pretty much everyone that came had a blast, and everyone got along. We gave away a whole bunch of items, and now we feel so much lighter!

I hope everyone that attended this event had as much fun as we did, and those who couldn't make it: I hope you can make the next one!

Please let us know of any ideas you had that could help make the events go smoother. As we hold more of these, they seem to get bigger and bigger, and I think a lot of our games are catered towards the smaller groups that we used to have at these events (30 or so people) so any ideas of what could make them better as they get more and more people would be much appreciated!
