Has anybody else noiced the appaling lack of decent monks recently? or am i just really unluvky
not only have i had no ecto in the last 4 days, i have had: monks with no experience, monks with SIGNET OF JUDGEMENT as elite, monks that are just plain shit, a "pro" monk that expects me to kill all the nightmares because "my wand only does 10 damage noob"
and a monk who "has done this 200 times before" but doesnt know why he has to use protective spirit.
basically i dont know what i hope to achieve, hopefully just the attention of some monk who then bother to learn.
share you experiences as an exasperated SS/SV
and on another note, why the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO are ecto so rare all of a sudden?

Bad luck, end of story
. If you want to ensure yourself a good monk, make one.
there are plenty of good monks on this forum, take a look at the feedback from my academy. Anyone giving feedback on my expert course is certainly a good monk.
Ecto drops were nerfed long ago, but not lately. The fact that you're not getting any recently is simply a case of bad luck.

I have a 55 monk. I have an SS/SV necro. Everything you said may or may not be true except for one thing... My main weapon on my monk is a sword, which I swing for 2-4 dmg. It is the necro's job to kill all dying nightmares as soon as they pop. They are the only character down there with a full damage weapon on them.
Aside from that there are a ton of bandwagon jumpers out there. They all want their ecto too, driving the availability down. My suggestion is not only to roll your own 55 monk, but also get one of your guildies to do the same. We have 6 guys in our guild that farm UW every time we've got favor. Any of those guys can come down as either a Mo/? or a N/Me. We take turns so that no one gets 'locked' into one role, making it fun for everyone. It also helps us understand the timing, route, and abilities required to make the run successful.

Sorry, but you're so very very wrong. Any monk who expects to be taken seriously down there should have a rod that he meets the requirement for (light damage works wonders, I recommend wroths rod customized.) When I nec I don't meet the req on my wand, nor should I have to. The necro should not even be close enough to the aggro to be able to wand down the nightmares as they pop. Having the necro do anything except kill (not including nightmares) is slowing your runs down immensely. One thing I do bring as a necro though is power drain, to interupt random nightmares when I can, so that the monk doesn't have to waste sb when not in aggro (or waste time reenchanting.)
