pre searing questions from noob.

im brand new to game. have a lvl2 elem in pre searing. in the process of doing all the quests per every help thread i can find on fansites. and for the record, i have used the search function (no flames please)

1. Can you buy an expert salvage kit in pre searing? i see salvage(10) and id kits, but if i cant find an expert, the id kit is useless to me, cause the reg salvage kit wont pull anything but basic(at least that is what i have gleaned from the forums.
2. On my drops(weapons etc.) should i sell to merchant directly or spend the cash on a salvage kit and strip the drop then sell?
3. I understand that armor in presearing is pretty much just what you can get from the collectors, and is pretty much a waste of time. regarding weapons, how good of a weapon is available in presearing? even in the towns, i dont see people selling anything higher than 6-9, not that i have the money.
4. i havent selected my 2nd prof, even tho i know its going to be Mem, cause i am going to do the teaser quests. After i do the ranger teaser, how long will i beable to keep my pet? until i actually choose the 2nd prof, or when i go to the acadamy?

2. The materials will sell for more in Post-Searing, from what I've heard. I just dump them at the merchant anyway.

3. Don't bother with getting better weapons in Pre-Searing, whatever you've got will work fine.

4. You can keep your pet so long as you have the relevant skill on, Charm Animal. Once Charm Animal is off your skillbar, your pet disappears the next time you zone. Whenever you get Charm Animal again (you can switch back to /R much, much later on), your pet reappears.
