1. The cape is annoying. Yes, the cape physics are well done, and it's fun to watch it flap in the wind, but it's overkill. When just playing the game cooperatively, the cape bounces back and forth so much it make me nauseous. It's very distracting.
2. The cape is awkward. The cape may look good on some characters like mages with colorful armor, but most characters would look much better without one. All you see when playing the game is the back of your character, and the cape covers so much of your character that all you really get to see is the design of the cape, which you may or may not like. This leads into the third issue with the cape.
3. The cape is disagreeable. I don't know about other guilds out there, but in my guild, no one can agree on what cape design we should use. Not everyone likes the same design, and for those that dislike the design, there's absolutely nothing we can do about it but complain to those in charge, which is causing a lot of stress in our guild. Several people have left the guild in the past few days over the issue. It's sad we have to be arguing over something as trivial as a goofy-looking cape, but that's honestly the most challenging issue we've faced since we've gotten into Guild Wars.
Now I'm not saying the cape isn't good at all. I'll admit it helps to identify people among different guilds (of course, guild tags will always be the most definitive way of identification, though), and it's good when you want to show guild spirit, but they're not necessary all of the time. I'd really hate for the cape issue to get in the way of participating in a guild, because I'm with a great bunch of guys. A quick and easy solution would simply be an option to "disable" the cape from appearing within the game at the player's discretion, so those who like the cape can wear it and those who don't can disable it. Everyone can be happy
