How to deal with auction spamers?
Cyrdio
i had an auction running and 5 bids for the item. the auction is closed now and i wanted to give the item to the auction winner - but he does not respond to my emails nor to my in-game messages. sure i can fill a negative feedback (which im going to) but what about the others who bid on that auction? its kinda unfair for them not winning the auction because someone bid a higher price which he is not paying.
is there a way to find out the second highest bidder?
maybe im just too inpatient, the auction is closed now for 2 days - is there a rule for how long to wait for a reaction from the auction winner?

IMO, if they're in-game and refuse to respond, it's pretty clear they have no interest in the item. I've had several auctions in which the winner either denied they bid or simply said they didn't want it anymore, which is why I always put a warning that non-paying bidders will receive negative feedback. Seems to work.
You might try looking at the bid history on the auction in question and looking up the second highest bidders info. Not sure if that will work, but it's worth looking at. I do agree there needs to be a little more functionality in this area.

what i do not understand is that the bidder has 24 positiv feedbacks and not one negative. i will wait one more day before fill the negative feedback.
thanks for the hint with the warning, i will add that in my future auctions too. also thanks for pointing me to the history, i did not know that such thing exists. if i dont get a response from the bidder until tomorrow, i will contact the second highest bidder.

I won an auction. No reply from the seller for 3 days, I added him to my friends list and checked daily during game play & dude was never online.
I then got an email stating that his computer was knackered.
Long story short after 6 days we finally traded, plus I bought some ingots off him that i needed for droks armour.
Sometimes patience pays off.

This is a very good point. As unbelievable as it may seem, some people just don't sit on the PC every day.

Sometimes it can be tuff for the two people involved in a trade to get together. If the person you are tryin to reach is really into the FoW, or the UW, they cannot just bail on those areas, tho a quik, 'busy atm FoW, get back to me', I would think is in order.
Another thing to consider is are they getting the messages, sometimes the chat is going so fast I could easily miss one or two PM's(sound turned down) of course). Just a couple things too think about as well as everything the other posters mentioned as well.
If after 2 days of tryin to contact the buyer, while they are in game, and still recieving no reply, in that case all I can say is the negative feedback is warranted.
If the buyer does not want the iterm in question, he/she should say so, if they bid on it but cant afford it,again they should say so, save you the time and aggravation.
I bought a Focii a while back and when the seller contacted me, I had just picked up another green item for a 'very' good deal, and was a couple K short, so I just apologised to the seller, and explained that if he didnt mind waiting a day I would have the proper amount of g by the same time next day. No problems, He/She gave me a positive feedback, and I didnt have to duck their PM's for a day feeling ashamed....

yeah i know that not all GW players are pc addicts (really?^^) but as i wrote, he was ingame and didnt give me even a "busy" or something like that.
anyway, funny thing is, i wrote him a rather harsh (but polite) feedback and contacted the second highest bidder. he was more than happy to have it for his latest bid, hence we met and exchanged the item. about 2 hours later the original winner contacted me, claiming that his brother was playing with his account and thats why he did not answer. he than claimed i should've waited more than 2 days and that he still wants to buy it. when i wanted to ask him why he did not react on my emails, he went offline... i dont know if i should've waited more than 2 days without a sign of life, im new to guru and had only a few transactions with different players (about 5), all went quick - the longest i had to wait for a response was half a day.
now i feel kinda bad - his story sounds not very believable but there is a chance that he was just too busy to check emails and his brother was really playing with his account. though, why bidding on an auction when having no time to get the goods? anyway, i'd like to take my feedback back and give him a 0 instead of a -1. is there a way to do this?

I think your -1 is justified. To be honest, he sounds like the typical young teenager jerk who likes to mess with people. I've run into several of those. Your biggest clues are him not responding in game, and going offline when you asked him about the emails. But, that's just my opinion. One of the mods should be by soon and can sort things out for you. They're real good about that. Great mods and admins.
EternalTempest
If you can talk to them in game (logged in) and they don't respond, give it another day, or if they black list you give a -1.
I would make it 5 days realistically if there just not on.

yeah great - now he gave me a -1 feedback which is simply not true. there is a link saying "reply to this feedback", i wanted to use that to point to this thread - but its not working.
is there an admin that can help me?

Please contact Dralspire, the auction admin, by either PM or through email at [email protected].
Sol_Vie
Can't you view the auction history or something? Wouldn't that reveal the... well history of the auction? I would bet you could see who the nearest bidder was.
Cyrdio
@Inde: thanks, i will do this.
@Sol_Vie: yes that works and is exactly what i have done, as i wrote in a previous message
