I personally don't think guilds need websites, in fact I wouldn't join a guild that had a website because I'm not into that sort of thing. I'll be starting a guild of my own in due time, and I intend to be the only member for a while. (I just want the cape) I'm all about doin' it in good fun, not concerned about official website or forums or crap like that. If yer a dick yer a dick if yer not yer not.

Octavius you may want to do a bit more to your site before you advertise, really isn't a whole lot there and for $10-$25 you may want to show a more completed site for people to look at then something half finished. Just something I noticed is all. I think its a nice idea to offer the free sites and all though.

For dutch users, www.pcextreme.nl would be a good choice. I've been a costumer there for a year now and so far I dont have any complaints what-so-ever.

seems how you dont like the other one try this one. Its a lil bit more creative. The first one I did was done in like 5 min. This one took a lil more time. And if I do it for somone els I take as long as I feel needed to make it look right. And you say 10-25 is a bit much. Then you can go get a better template from Clantemplates.com but again there will be alot of people with that same webpage I offer custom webpage only you have it. And if it takes me 2 hr to get the images and stuff and put it together that is 5hr job. Below min. wage. but all the same that is up to the user.Some clans/guilds in the gaming world dont know photoshop or HTML so I offer them customs for cheaper then big places do. most charge for custom IMG templates about 25-30 with Flash 50+. So its all up to you.

Well my host is 10 dollars a month and I have unlimited space/bandwidth/scripting/all phpnuke and whatnot. So yeah.

I currently develop technical course material for a Fortune 500 company and I am quite the grammar Nazi. Additionally, I am VERY fluent in English and can spot typos at lightning speed!

Wow, Anariel that is a very eye catching site...wish I had that skill, I have not had any schooling on website creating, I have Frontpage and dreamweaver with Fireworks...and probably could not even come close to what you have going there. Your site is not bad at all! As far as graphics are concerned, you might want to look into getting a trial version of Photoshop to play around with it. If not, then maybe consider some other kind of arrangement for all your graphics that aren't animated. Animations are nice but you really only need one always moving graphic per page.
I started making websites when I was about 12 years old which was almost a decade ago... so I guess like everything else experience is what makes you better. I don't have any tutorials or even a portfolio right now (but I need to put together a portfolio very soon). My approach to most websites is to make it simple, and have a "theme" to it that is unique but stable throughout the site. That's about all the advice I really have. ^^

i usually use vim as i dont open ftp to my server. i use ssh and vim. keeps the server more secure. my site isnt awesome, but i am learning php, css, html etc. so theyre definitely getting better from when i first started with lists of links centered down the page. now i have learned how to use php to include redundant data, create forms... css to place navigation bars, etc.
as for photoshop, i have to add my own suggestion as i prefer free oss (open source software) to programs that charge money. i use the gimp for my graphics manipulations. the one that comes with linux is awesome and they ported it to windows. just search google for "the gimp" and if youre confused, maybe add the words "graphics and image manipulation program".
