I usually get most of my dyes in pre searing. When I created my mesmer, I spent 2 days in pre searing, got her to lv 8, completed all the missions and came across 2 black dyes, a couple red, green, purple and yellow. Pre Searing seems to be the dye place.

I'm never that lucky. I created a new pre-sear person recently. After about 10 hours of playing her, I've found 3 dyes: silver, red and orange.

I've been grinding Charrs up to level 16 and I had 750 Charr Hides and 1000 Charr Carvings Also, don't farm pre unless you want gold in pre-searing self. You can farm about 2K each hour in pre, and in post, you can easily multiply that by 5. It's fun though, using Cyclone Axe once and you see 20 guys surounding you hitting the floor, you grab the stuff and do it again.

People always expect getting much money in pre, but they're very wrong. Farming pre for dyes is seriously at the top of the most famous farm places, though, dyes barely drop, and Black dyes don't drop at all, just occasionaly. I've only found 2, and my character is 140 hours old (included the 60 hours afk'ness ). Just farm post if you want money in post.
