All 15k armor sets?
Elizam Etherfury
Random question but do people bother to collect all the 15k armor sets for their characters? Currently levelling an E/Me and it seems the armor bonuses vs the elements seems like it'd be nice to have all the sets and switch to whatever elemental type I may be facing most in a mission/pvp/farming run.
I haven't had the pleasure of playing PVE all the way to the end of the storyline. I've only ever played PVP mainly and thus far I seem to put aeromancer on all the Ele's I've ever made just cause there are so many air spikers out there.
does the 15 AL stack ? Or is it 15 AL vs an element for at least wearing one piece.
Little confusion.
Or would say, 15k Pyromancer armor have 60 AL + 60 AL vs Fire?
Thanks for any and all responses. Haven't played in over half a year and I am RElearning alot :P

I have a female mesmer.. and she's got 3 out of 4 sets of 15k armor, the dessert collectors and bits and pieces which I thought looked nice (mainly boots) from droknars.. currently though, I'd like to get the fissure top over getting the other 15k set, and storage is a problem with a large wardrobe like that.
I'm also female, which is what explains the cloth obsession.. there are two armors which are useful in that collection, my favourite the rouge stuff which is great if I don't need the energy and am scared of our monk(or me) being useless and the enchanters which gives more energy (and means more hexes) the rest of the armors are for show only.
The armor works identical to the one you wear in pvp though, and the stats are identical to the droks stuff, just.. more expensive

15K armour is the same as Droknar armour apart from the looks and cost. I plan on getting the odd 15K stuff for each of my characters purely for a change in their look, but I don't fancy spending my time farming away to get the gold for full sets of 15K.
Hockster
My ele has all 4 sets of 15K. She's rather spoiled that way.

Started it with my Necro, but skipped the scars and still haven't gotten the 15k Tormentor's since the update. Its nice to have fun armor to change in, but it hurts inventory and storage more than anything...

I'm rapidly running out of room here. I'm starting to get the feeling that lots of extra storage per character/account is more important than lots of extra character slots for Factions. I want to have multiple sets of armor. I really do.
Maybe I should just enslave somebody and make him/her carry around all my clothes and materials?
kdhoney44
Yep I'm running out of storage space too I currently have the female necro's 15k bonelace set, half of the 15k cultist, one piece of 15k necrotics, droks tormentors with bloodstained boots and some of the collectors stuff for desert armor. Vanity is sooo much fun..hehe
Hailfall
I spoiled my Necro with 4 out of 5 15k sets.. Basically because I loved the looks of it.. the only one I don't have is the Cultist one but that is ugly.
It's really bad that I am now running out of storage because of the armor xD (then again I also carry all the necro greens with me.. leaving me only 1 bag for stuff to pick up in)

my monk has about 3 of the 15k armors. altho the ascestics arn't exactly 15k, but rather 8k.
and my elementalist has all of the 15k armors.
my mesmer has all.. but only 2 of the armors have the complete set.
my ranger has 3/4, drakescale is ugly imho.
my necro has 2.. scars are 8k tho..
i think for the elementalists armors are pretty nice, since they have different armor against different attacks.
but monks/mesmers seem to have same extra stats. :|

Armor bonus vs elements is determined as the effect hits the area of the body. Most direct damage spells hit the chest I believe, definately things like arrows and elemental weapons hit random areas of the body as well.
Thus, if you are protecting yourself from Fire Imps or Charr, take full pyromancers. Ice-spearing golems - take full hydromancers.
Personally, for pve, those two sets should handle nearly all situations. For the rare lightning damage undead, bring the Winter spirit and hydro and you'll be fine.

Because I have several different builds for my different characters, and each build requires that attirbutes/runes change, so instead of rebuying runes, I get new armors with the runes set the way they need to be (aside from sup vig, thats always on the head gear) To me the 1.5 looks cheap and flat and since I like a little dimension in life and can afford it, I buy 15k.
quickmonty
Storage is the problem. All my characters have a full set of 15K (whatever I feel is most useful in general) and extra 15K pieces with different runes so I can be more versatile.
^ I would suggest putting superior vigor on chest piece, as this is the most costly in materials and least likely to have duplicate pieces. I tend to use different head pieces with corresponding superior rune. That will allow you to max that particular attribue to 16 if you so desire.

Meh, it gives people something to do I guess.
Me, I just buy the ones I like. For example, my main Warrior still uses Knights just because it's the one I like best. My Monk uses regular tattoos since I like the dragon design more than the 15K(as in 8K) ones. However, my Necro has Fissure, which I think looks awesome.
Usually whatever runes I need to swap out, I can handle with the headpieces alone.

Only get armour that I will actually use, my ranger for example has 15k druids, nothing more, because I dont see my self using frost or drakes in alot of situations.
ShadowVoid
I myself spoiled my warrior with a couple 15k sets a set of shields to use on differant occasions, a few differant axes to use with them, and like 3 helms to use also.
Storage gets tight sometimes, but I mainly keep my characters items in there own respective bags like the last 2 since they hold the most besides the main bag.
But yea I have seen lots of people that have all 4 sets of the 15k armor plus others I wonder how they keep there space going, they must have a storage character. I myself have 3 pve characters that I play lots so I have very little room to store my important stuff

I have 21 slots taken up with armor(all mesmer 15K+fow+partial(collectors+droks)), several with weapons off hands and salvage/ID kits. This leaves me with a grand total of 7 slots free for loot.
Apparently lots of clothes is not uncommon in mesmers.

for my only top lvl character, my ranger, I'll only get the 15k drakescale armor as it looks the best. I use druid armor all the time for extra energy. And I feel that the 15k druid is almost as ugly as regular druids so I won't get that. unless of course superior absorb runes start raining from the sky. in that case I'll definitely buy both!

Does someone have a link to show screen shots of 15K armor? I've searched but haven't any ss, just for FoW. Thanks for any help. I'm mainly interested in female Mesmer armor.

I'm really looking forward to some kind of additional storage, as I hate having to move armor just to make room to do a mission.
Additionally, once I'd scrapped the collector for the mesmer, it was an easy decision to scrap the collector armor for the rest of my characters.
Like Boxterduke has listed below, storage is a big concern as some characters have more than one full 15k set:
- Mesmer has 15k/cheap (but not trashy!) enchanters, 15k rogues, and 15k Noble dress - with 3 masks
- Ranger has 1.5k druids and 15k frostbound - with 3 masks
- Monk has 15k Saintly, 15k Judges/tattoos set, and cheap dragon tattoos - with 3 head tattoos
Diablo???
third on that statement. My mesmer, only a week old and already she's working on her next 15k set, first being the 15k Rogue. She's one spoiled lady.
ohh and shoes, boots and shoes, she's got many of those

The only reason I have not gotten more armor is storage.
My mesmer and warrior have the most though.
Mesmer has 15k noble, rouge and enchanter
fow armor
1.5 enchanter
plus some peices here and there to mix and match
Warrior has 15k dragon and gladiator
1.5k platemail
Monk has 15k wanderer
800gp dragon tattos
collector
Necro has 15k Tormentor
collector
I would like to get more but storage is the issue, plus there is still all the armor coming out in ch2.

Damn, I better get my act together. I only have one set that I have always used. OK, so I'm a slacker. Is it the 15K Enchanters that looks like lingerie? I'm gonna have to go on a shopping spree for her.
Diablo???
I demand more storage! lol
both the 1.5k and 15k enchanter look like lingerie, excpet the 15k version has a mesh see through feel to it. seen here. either way, both vewy seksay.

Having a second account (and even a third) does have alot of benefits, especially with storage. Most of my characters have their backpack space empty for items, except for the characters I don't play that often (ele and mes). Ele especially because of all the armors and different weapon sets.

Incidentally, my male mesmer on my other account has only 2 armors... must be a female mesmer thing.

Me, I buy the armor that I like the best. I didn't even buy 15k for my necro because I don't like any of them enough to spend that much money on them. Right now I'm not buying any 15 though because I'm waitng for the armor in Factions to come out. The ones I have seen rock!
Rayne Nightfyre
It's understandable why many have the viewpoint that 15k armor is just a waste. But for those who do have ways of making decent amounts of gold, 15k armor is an awesome investment. Yes it's only for looks, but hey if it makes GW a more pleasurable experience when looking at your armor, then I'm all for that. And by the following list, you can tell which characters I enjoy playing the most by the armor they have. Here's my characters' armor as follows:
Account #1
Mesmer:
-15k Rogue's(navy blue)
-15k Noble's(navy blue)
-15k Enchanter's(navy blue)
Monk:
-15k Saintly(black)
-15k Ascetic(black)
-15k Ascetic(red, farming tatoos)
Warrior:

-FoW-Dragon(magenta)
Elementalist:
-15k Aeromancer(red)
Account#2
Ranger:
-15k Druid's(magenta)
Necromancer:
-15k Bonelace(magenta)
Mesmer #2(Pre-Searing only character):
-Pre-Searing Collector's armor(magenta)
Edit: I do wish that somehow they would change the fact that armor takes up inventory space. Perhaps a drop-down list by each armor slot with the available choices you've purchased, but something along that line would be awesome.

I would like to have 15 K for some of my char.s it would be nice to have bigger gold drops not that I am lazy to farm.I can only do it so much in a day.

Thanks for all the responses.
I need to find a screenshot listing of what 1.5k armor looks like in comparison to 15k.
I always thought 15k was the 60 AL armor but apparently there are 1.5k versions. I don't even know what the visual difference is! Silly me is wearing Yak's Bend Hydromancer haha. (the set that makes my ele look even more like a girly man >.<).
Oh, and only having 75 AL versus a chosen element type makes me sad.
You'd think an elementalist would be able to armor themselves to a chosen element. Rangers do it SO much better
Ah well, sigh.
I think the bonuses on ele armor aren't that great, but not like we have a choice.

Ranger: FoW Druids, 15K Druids
Monk: FoW Astetics, 15K Wanderers, Droks Sacred, Droks Tats (for soloing), 3 Different Head Cap Tats (for stats)
Warrior: 15K Glads
Ele: 15K Aeromancers, 15K Hydromancers
Necro: 15K Bonelace, Droks Scars for Soloing, Three different Face scars for Attributes.
Takes up a lot of room, yeah it does.. a bit too much. I would have more sets, but I just don't have the room, so I don't bother.
